Server Error!

Just tried to book an award flight YYC-YYZ. Got as far as the
"book flight" button and I get a page saying "Server error"
Unable to fulfill your request.

It then offers a return to Aeroplan home page, or you can click on "Give us a call" (Ka-ching!)

Funny thing, when I went back in the 1st time & re-selected the flight times etc, several of the flights I was looking at had changed from Classic to Classicplus!(38,000)

When I went back in a 3rd time, they changed back to
classic 25,000.

Still can't book it.

Guess I'll try from home later.

You could try their website support number. I've evaded fees that way before.

Hi,

I had exactly this, and so I called their IT support. I think that I stumbled upon two separate bugs, but one of the bugs is this, and they recognized it right off the bat:

If you are trying to book for someone else, and you put in their name and whatnot, DO NOT check the box for including the name of this person in your permanent online file - it leads to a glitch that sends you to an error page with a note about some secret password.

I had another "server error" on the weekend, and I could never get around, whether I was using PC or Mac (OSX 10.4.8, with Netscape/Mozilla, Safari, Firefox). It is not a browser problem.

When I called IT, I don't think that I was routed to the Delhi centre, and they helped right away. Obviously this new interface is very buggy.

I've been trying to buy a few tickets tongiht.

I get to the page where you agree to terms, can sign in, or continue as a guest.
Cannot find server.

Tried signing in, tried as a guest, tried signing in off the home page 1st, (tried expedia, but the flight costs much more)

So, AirCanada... perhaps I won't spend money on this spur of the moment trip. Aeroplan wanted 160,000 miles. You won't let me purchase a revenue ticket.

We both lose... but you may not get my dough.

I did a few reservations with a flightpass and it worked fine so I guess there could be a problem with their payment processing server. I think AC should really keep their website finetuned. I find it running a bit "rough" and unrefined most of the times. While it does get the job done it could be a bit faster and do less with errors.

I will try this.

I had tried many times last night to book a ticket.Error message came up.I called and after 10 minutes of "experiencing heavy call volumes tape replays :o :( " I gave up.

OK, so I called tech support this a.m. Got an agent after about 1 min on hold. I spoke with a very knowlegable  and helpful agent named Valentina.
She guided me through some of the security and content settings on my browser, had me restart my computer, and shazam! I could do my booking. She said they are getting a lot of calls since the new website was launched.
She mentioned spaces between phone numbers, expired credit cards, etc which seem to be causing a lot of the problems. Not exactly sure what my problem was.

So I was able to make my Classic booking this a.m. without a glitch.

P.S. Still cant make seat selection on an award booking :(

I seem to recall that previously, the computer would just assign you a seat based on your profile preference-now it doesnt assign anything (at least the seat doesnt show up on the PNR that you can view on both AP & AC site)

Seem to recall Andrew Y saying this feature was coming soon?

Good for you,muskoka

I connected with same agent,Valentina.Unfortunately,I am still un-able to book on-line.I went through all the steps you had as well

Did you try taking the credit cards OUT of your profile?
She told me to try that if I couldn't book after i tried the other things.

Seriously, that we are having to resort to such charades is ridiculous. For fun, shouldn't AC put up a beta site and let US try a bunch of dummy bookings and find all the bugs? Could give us a bunch of AP points to do it.

Come on AC - at least try it out your site first before you launch with big headache-inducing, multicolored ads in the papers. The problems people are having are not being caused by unusual operations (ie, putting in dashes in the credit card, for heaven's sakes, including one's mother's name in our file).

If particular browser settings are required, which must be different from previously, then this information should be known and published for all to see on the Aeroplan website.

All the stuff about spaces, credit card issues, is very standard web-processing stuff that can be automatically checked and even corrected by any half-decent web-app. Then it appears the app just blows up if it gets junk downstream because they are parsing previously entered data without even doing minimally reasonable data checks.

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

I suggest to anyone with who was instructed to change their security settings to turn them back to DEFAULT at the very least after you're done with AC or you might end up with unwanted codes and malware on your computer.

This is seriously nuts

Today, just looking for the flights to book between YEG and YOW next week, the following error.

! We are currently experiencing a problem with our system. Please try again later. (10003)

You may return to the previous page and your current information by selecting your browser's 'Back' button.

Seriously AC, do you want our business???? Fire your IT department immediately. :td:

RestaurantReviewer Oct 29, 2006 12:00 pm

Aeroplan.com booking site is down until Monday.

On the surface, from the new Aeroplan PR, The new “Aeroplan” regulation allows you to book more flights than before. But if you try to book a flight on the “new” Aeroplan.com, flights are available but when you want to book it, it says:

* "We’re sorry, but due to real-time availability, the number of seats you requested is no longer available on the flights you selected."

After waited for about an hour on the customer service line on Saturday night, the rep told me that “our internet booking system is currently down and they were told that it will not be fixed until Monday”. So they can only manually book me the flights without using the new “Ajax” system. I smell something fishy, I bet the “the IT department” is on being slaughtered.

Then I tried calling the customer service agent, the rep said the new website is showing seats that don’t even exist in the system! The new site is making the booking frustrating and chaotic. Is that what Web 2.0 will be like? Does Aeroplan care about customers at all?

ABG Oct 29, 2006 2:11 pm

I tried to find the right thread to put this into.... but I just booked some YUL-LAS on the phone since I couldn't get it going on the site and the call centre agent waived my booking fees. She told me all AP staff got a directive on 25 October saying they could waive the fees for member having techincal issues

It's over a week later and this exact same bug (the first one) has still not been fixed as I learnt to my cost this morning. Hundreds, likely thousands of man-hours are being wasted. All they need to do is take that line and check box off the page until the code can be fixed.

Sanosuke Nov 2, 2006 9:19 am

As of 3 days ago, I'm still getting the APIS_GE error and resolving that with technical support as of this writing. Man, AC needs to get its IT department in a row of ducks and shoot them off one by one for coding a poor site that can't even have things working properly like they were before the changes.

Sanosuke!

^^I must say that the errors that I posted were corrected quickly.^^ thanks!

the final problem that I didn't post was the java buttons not working on the multi-city AirCanada booking page... I downloaded Mozilla/Firefox and it works fine now

"Due to real-time availability..."

I just tried booking reward travel for YOW - YQQ in late Feb. Very pleased to see 125 flights come up, and 25 combinations when I downselected to "Business", but every time I try to select one of the options (including some of the original "Economy" ones, I get a notice saying:

"We’re sorry, but due to real-time availability, the number of seats you requested is no longer available on the flights you selected."

AAARRRGGGHHHH !!
