As many have noted on this forum AC crew likes to retire to the galley after meal service only to emerge 2 hours before landing on long haul flights.

This is so true, I've noticed on every AC int'l flight in J. Come to think of it, noticed the same thing on UA as well. During most of our flight on the UD of 744 HKG-ORD, the only time the FA came through was when the Capt/FO had to use the facilities and the FA had to "block" the entrance to the cockpit. After that, back downstairs to chat with the other "working" people on the plane.

Ah, how I long for more SQ and NH service...now that's personal attention!

UA UD has 2 Crew members. If you go in back when lights have been dimmed, there is one always seating near the closet.The UD is never unmanned. Security reasons.
In fact I have seen other Crew Members come up to UD & chat during their break on many of my UA flights to Australia.
I usually am up 8 hours into flight.As the OZ flights leave at 10:30PM ,I usually pop a sleeping pill once the flight is airbourne.When I get up 8 hours later, I have my meal.There is always a crew member by the stairs reading or chatting with another crew member.
If the UD is full,during meal service a third crew will come up.

Sorry for the confusion. I do mean Oct 15 instead of Apr 15.

Now are we saying that if the plane did take off at 1525 the crew would not have had their full rest and they needed those extra 7.5 hours ? What flight did the crew work on to get to HKG and when did they get to HKG ? This sounds like there was a massive delay on an AC15 to HKG a few days prior.....

2 345 out of 22 in service.

Emirates: 10
Etihad: 2 (plus 2 on order)
SIA: 5
Thai: 3 (plus 1 on order);

So this place AC 5th place for the fleet of 345.
