Question - Points for First Class Upgrades
I am flying YYZ-LAX-Singapore and back in September. Getting back on a Sunday night and must work the next morning. How many points are needed to upgrade to first class from economy? Aeroplan website is not giving me the answer and I am tired of being on hold on the phone. Please advise!

On a revenue ticket you can only upgrade with certificates if you have them and are booked in the right class. On a reward ticket you may be able to upgrade IF and it is a big IF there are reward seats open for J class. Also your status comes into play. All of the above applies only to AC flights on AC aircraft. Hope this helps. |
Not to mention AC has no First Class cabin. AC does not participate in the STAR upgrade program either. If you are an elite (Prestige, Elite or SuperElite) you can use the appropriate upgrade certificate on the AC space ex-LAX, provided you are on the proper fare ticket, and there is space available in the Executive Class cabin within your upgrade confirmation window, or at the gate provided you make the request to standby for an upgrade when you check in, or in your case, get to LAX.

Can I upgrade to executive on my YYZ/LAX flights? What about my LAX/Singapore flights which are on a different carrier (Singapore Airlines)? My points must be able to get me something, no? |

P.S. "revenue ticket" is the "normal" ticket, i.e. one purchased with hard currency as opposed to loyalty points. |
