First Time on AC

I am working on a booking for a trip to LHR in June. In doing so I have tried to book seats in row 12 on both the A330 (333) and the 767-200. The agent tells me that I have to have elite status with AC and that my *Alliance Gold status does not work for these seats. Maybe that's right, maybe not I'm not sure. Could anyone advise? Thanks.

You can try another agent. These are definitely set aside for AC elites, but the seats, other than being closer to the front of the aircraft, are no better or worse than the rest of the back cabin. No E+ here. AC is under no requirement to open these seats to STARGolds, but the agent you got may have misinterpreted the assignment rules and been over-zealous. If a second agent tells you this, then maybe it is the case, and these are only given to AC elites. (The better for us as we're always complaining AC doesn't keep non-elites out of this section, so it tends to get even more crowded than the ones further back.)

BTW, unless you've not upgraded you status on the side "rankings", you are a 1P which is STARSilver, not STARGold -- PremEx and 1K are STARGolds.

this section fills up at checkin, I only like this section for row 12, that is it.

on the A 330 row 12 is an Exit row I believe... so nobody can book those seats in advance with AC...

that's not the case, as there are 2 rows of J between the exit row and row 12. I have been able to book row 12 on the 333 more than once in advance as well.

Only for those with AC status.
1P is PremEx = Star Gold.

More UA illogic!

Huh, how does one get 1P as Premier Executive? Would not 1P be more logical as the first elite tier which is Premier? Afterall, shouldn't PremEx not be 2P?

Of course, this from the airline that can't count, and calls its 100,000 milers 1Ks, when 1K is actually just 1,000...

BTW, this is not a slight at Andrew or his response. It is just another example of the stupidity that can be found over at UA.

Well, in the Premier category, it is the "first elite tier" from the top.
