Aeroplan Hotel Rewards Hiccup

I tried to book a Starwood Hotel reward on aeroplan website (new feature). I made the inquiry online, was prompted once the property and dates were chosen to call Starwood and refer to "AERORED" booking for availability.
Problem is that the Starwood rep never heard of this type of booking, and neither did her supervisor.

When I called AP the agent informed me that there were several complaints lodged to them about the new hotel reward feature offered on the AP website.

Anybody else have this problem? Is it only with Starwood? Any way to fix this "bug"?
