OT: YHM-MAD direct!!!
On this hot afternoon in southern Ontario, I decided to go to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton. Since it is 200m from YHM, I also went to check out the terminal.
You cannot imagine my surprise when I heard that everybody there was speaking Spanish and wearing T-shirt "bomberos Granada". Looking at the monitor, there was a flight scheduled at 6.30pm for MADRID!!! Operated by Comet Air plus.
Unfortunately their plane was not there yet so I do not know what it was.
Is it common to have overseas charter flight out of YHM?
Did anybody see what plane was used?

JFK is the only North American airport listed on their destinations list, so I'm guessing this was a charter or something. Their fleet is 747-200, 737-300, and A310-300. If YHM was getting any kind of regular flight to Europe, I'm sure they would have it on their website news page.

there aremany more charters out of YHM than you would realize...........no curfew which means the BlueJays, maple Losers and Raptors use it when their charters come in after midnight.
There are several charter operators out of there as well and the Spanish one must have been one of those.

This was announced last year. It's once every two weeks IIRC. However, I believe the flight is to AGP not MAD - which would make sense given the Granada shirts you saw (AGP is Malaga on the south coast).
There was talk about signing on with tour operators on this side of the ocean to charter part of the aircraft, but as far as I know that never happened so it's only inbound tourists.

OK here's that press release from last year: http://www.hamiltonairport.net/newsl..._news_78.shtml
So I was wrong - it is MAD, and it is weekly. Aeromexico will be back with a couple of charters this year, and Universal YHM-JFK-GEO 4x weekly.

No it was not a YHM-MAD today
Upon landing late from YUL, saw a huge line of hispanic people.
There was Mexicana flight 2883 to MEX!!!
Must have been a charter flight.
Anybody knows what was happening in steel time?
And by the way, Check-in agents told me that there are rumours floating that AC would start YHM-YYC, YHM-YHZ and YHM-YWG. We shall see but that would be great news.
Next : a MLL at YHM!!!
