Aeroplan Redemption
Greetings.
I havent had time to read all the fine print, looking for some guidance. After booking a flight using Aeroplan points, what is the policy of cancellation on "refund" if necessary if there is any ?? Is the web the best way to guage seat inventory for redemption, or should I be talking to someone at aeroplan directly. I am looking to take 6 people (4 adults, 2 children) YYC-LAX return, and funny thing is the direct routings come up as more points required than by going YYC-LAX-YVR-YYC. Not sure why. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks |
Overwing, the fine print you need on refunds is at: https://www.aeroplan.com/en/account/...ng_mileage.jsp
It costs CA$135 + tax, per ticket, to refund the miles to your account. If you are within 21 days of scheduled departure, you are only allowed to change tickets, for CA$55 + tax each. I personally am okay with the web for looking for seat availability, but it does take some work. Reward flights are not mileage runs, so people prefer to book direct flights. Thus, Aeroplan will run out of cheap seats on direct flights first. Then, if you're not SE, you will either have to pay more points for the direct flights, or endure connections to save points. |
Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

Un-Issued AE ticket and cancellation fees
I have a question with regards to cancellation of your booking online before the ticket has been issued. Is there a fee for mileage reinstatement before the ticket has been issued?
I made a booking in error and went to cancel the booking right away as the ticket was not issued yet, it did not give me an alert that there is a charge for re-instatement of miles for un-issued tickets. |
