It's time to Tango to Europe?!
Well, looks to me that AC is about to open up Tango (Class N) fares to selected European destinations in the next few weeks. Checking availability on certain key flights, they've added N class (but mostly showing no available seats) to several destinations.
Here's what I've found so far:
Canada - CDG - 14 Feb 2005 (Some N class seats showing available!)
Canada - LHR - 19 Mar 2005
Canada - FRA - 19 Mar 2005
Anyone got a clear idea of what is truly happening here?
BTW, when I did a quick fare search for YYZ - CDG or YUL - CDG on the days showing >N0, I was either getting an error or that no 'lowest' Econo tix were available.....hmmmm....

Since these are AC's prime transAtlantic routes this is where TANGO will be launched for the summer sales period. I am sure we will see a major announcement in early March to this effect. The big question, as you hint, is whether TANGO fares on these routes will earn 50% mileage, and if these miles will also be non-status miles. tcook has also posted of the arrival of these fares in his thread on the super-fare to CDG.

I am also wondering if international "C"s will start earning the 25% COS bonus. Right now, this often deters me from flying on AC, and I therefore fly on the other Star Alliance carriers.

I remember seeing 'N' fares appear after the YMBHVQL output in smile67 tool about 6 months ago. Then again, the buckets were always zeroed out...

Surely someone out there has some true insight into what this all means... FUnny AC hasn't announced anything from what I can see but they seem to already be offering N class.

AC's C fares are discounted business or upgraded business, while other STAR carriers use this code for their full fare business class. That's why AC doesn't yet give th e 25% bonus on overseas routes. AC's full fare business class is J, a fare class that UA and LH and other STAR carriers don't sell. [I believe SQ sells a J fare.] So I see nothing inconsistent in what AC does.
As for EMPRESS, he'd rather moderate a forum for an airline he's seldom flown, than deal with the pressures of this one. And likely start to have a life too...more power to him!
