I am also in the boat of people that received these emails. I received the one congratulating me on Prestige and 5 minutes later the one congratulating me on reaching Elite...

The worst part about the email messages was the statement that the benefits would be announced sometime between now and March 1, 2005... The subject was "Important News about Your 2005 Aeroplan Benefits"... I was hoping it might have been the announcement of benefits...

I mean come on already... the more this farce goes on, the more I'm thinking of shorting ACE stock...

same story here...
Was contragulated first for accessing Elite for 2005 (already done in June) and later on contragulated again to make it to Prestige in 2005 (done in March). With 80k so far this year, I feel really special...

Can't wait for the SE message :)

I guess some programmers will be invited to a special meeting later on today...

They got my letter right. The part that I find odd is: "Congratulations on again achieving Air Canada Elite Status." Congratulations? It wasn't a contest or a competition ... I think it would have been better to say something like "thank you for your continued patronage."

Or maybe I'm too naive?...

Having worked in the high-tech industry during the downturn a couple of years ago and witnessing the resulting cutbacks all over, I do have some sympathy for AeroPlan's marketing dept here.

This screw-up is most certainly not the fault of any individual but rather the direct result of overly agressive managerial cutbacks on staff & budget which in this case has obviously been cut to the bone and exposed a weakness in the process of distributing information like status updates for 2005.

I only got the message congratulating me on my Prestige status. I anticipate another one for Elite quite soon as I re-qualified in late October.

Academic Nov 30, 2004 12:59 pm

I got both within a few minutes of each other; first for Elite, then for Prestige. Maybe the next one will tell me I'm a basic member. On the other hand, I'll accept the packages for all three levels if they would like to send them to me. Do you think there would be grounds for a complaint if they didn't give us them? ;)

The Winger Nov 30, 2004 1:03 pm

I just checked and mine came through ok. Mrs Winger also qualified for the first time for Prestige and received an email also. She was a little jealous that our 6 yr old received P status last year and not her, so I turned her into a mileage run junky this year!

CoachPotato Nov 30, 2004 1:14 pm

I just got the Elite and Prestige email too. I do like the idea of getting those 2005 packages for all 3 levels! :)

parnel Nov 30, 2004 1:22 pm

I'm waiting for one for my wife who has no status but has points...hope it comes as SE and I'll move quickly ona double KK booking. :D

yyznomad Nov 30, 2004 1:26 pm

Yes, they are on drugs.

215,000 Q miles this year.

First email was Prestige.
Second email was Elite.
No email on Super Elite.

The instant recognition cutoff date was Nov 27, so this email should've been for those who missed it. I called AP (like everyone else has today) and they are being swamped with calls on this

flymaster Nov 30, 2004 1:36 pm

Got my two notes, Prestige and Elite as well.............105,000 Q miles!

This is all your fault you know  You had to become a member of AE and they are taking it all out on us now :(

You won't believe this. They got my Elite status right in my email the first time

karachi Nov 30, 2004 1:42 pm

i got 2 Prestige ones .. I sent an email out to SE Cust Service and got this response :

Dear Mr. XXXXXX:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Rest assured, our records indicate you have certainly accrued sufficient status miles to retain the Super Elite status for 2005. It appears you received the e-mail regarding the Prestige membership in error and this will be brought to the attention of the appropriate individuals.

Thank you for your understanding. We value your support and look forward to serving you again.

sub2mn Nov 30, 2004 1:52 pm

I am Elite, have requalified for Elite and got.. an Elite e-mail.

Am I the only one not complaining? :D

Tax Dude Nov 30, 2004 2:07 pm

I knew I didn't requalify for SE, but....

I got the Prestige one too, even though I crossed the Elite threshold on Nov 20th. I'm finishing the year with just over 35K status miles. And, after redeeming over 825K in the past year, my overall miles balance is less than my status miles balance for the first time in many years!

I was hoping for some details about next year's benefits though.
