Why does AC exist?

Why does Air Canada exist?

"To make a profit !!!!!" we shout out in unison.

"Wrong answer !!!" retorts the wise professor. "Thats not why Air Canada exists !!!"

The only reason AC exists is because it neets a human need When AC fails to meet those needs or the competition meets those needs better, then AC is in grave peril of not existing for very long.

Profit is an essential part of a healthy organization but it is not why a company exists. Here is an example: Living....We must have oxygen read profit to survive but it is not why we exist.

A healhy organization consists of healthy relationships between customers, employees, unions, shareholders and others such as suppliers, the community, government.

Healthy relationships....a healthy business; bad relationships...bad business...

How does a company go about developing healthy relationships with its many constituents?

By identifying and meeting their legitimate needs. By serving them with respect and gratitude for their patronage or their alliance.

Which brings me to the core of this post....... As a frequent flyer, one of my legitimate needs is for information and a relationship with Air Canada.

I still am lacking in this domain. I have put my trust in Air Canada and requalified for Elite 2005. Where is the reciprocity? I still have no idea what the nature of the relationship will be !!!

Please Mister Duchesne...
pray tellwhat our relationship will be in 2005. Please develop a healthy relationship with your core constituents.... those many frequent flyers who have supported Air Canada year in and year out. through the good times and through the bad times..

Well said AB320 ^

Is the "new" AC listening? You can repaint an airplane, put in some new carpet, all postive improvements but let's not fool ourselves, it is "airplane dressing".

As best as I can determine by my own personal experiences and the comments on FT, the front line staff at AC are making an extra effort. Now it's up to the management to step up to the plate and deliver!!!

Q: is this really out of step with the rest of the industry? Has anyone else yet announced their 2005 programs?
