The increase in humidity is accomplished by restricting the intake of outside air, which is a part of fuel economy.

This article sounds like a great spin of related facts to make it look good.

The airbus A320, 319, 321 are already so airtight that condensation accumulates around doorways and freezes with contact to the outside temperatures. When the airplanes first arrived there was need for a campaign to 'increase' airflow onboard to dry out the cabin. I was on a 74E a few months ago that had condensation in the area of 8K that had soaked the inside of the pouch that help the inflight magazines.
