Canadian FF Credit Card Comparison
I have compiled a rudimentary chart of the main AC point earning credit cards. I have done comparisons of signup bonuses (current), renewal bonuses, fees, ff benefits (generally not all the other benefits though) such as lounge access, earning and transfer capacities
Check for errors etc but it is at least a start in the maze of Aeroplan point earning FF credit cards in Canada.

PS. I threw in RBC Avion for comparison even though it doesn't earn Aeroplan miles

BB: Great initiative. Thank you.
It makes it easier to plough through the details.

And many thanks on behalf of many of us for doing so.
I believe that AMEX was offering a "charter" membership which for the Plat card earned up to 1.65 miles per dollar spent.

Excellent work BB.
I assume that the TD and BNS Visa are not worth mentioning as they do not appear. The reason for me saying this, is a colleague runs about $60k a month through his BNS Visa and is asking me for advice for which card to switch to. He has mentioned the TD Travel Visa. He does not have any AP status.
As Scott mentioned the SPG M/C looks to be the most flexible.

There is also the CIBC Aero Classic card which offers a 2500 Aeroplan mile signup bonus and 1 mile for each $2 spent. Anuual fee is $29 but waived the first year

Don't you mean 1 spg point per $2 CND spent? Or are you counting the bonuses when you say 1 spg point per $1 CND?

No just cutting and pasting and missed the SPG correction. Should be 1 pt/2 CAD $ as you say HD -- Thanks!

Thanks BB ^
I have applied for the SPG Master Card as I want the hotel points. You can get to Europe pretty cheap but the nice hotels can really add up. Besides the back up plan of transfering to AE really nice.

Thanks for the file BB ... just to point out - that with the AX Platinum card the points accellerator is included in the yearly fee - no need for the extra 75.00.

I haven't included other cards as they do not offer ff miles in the same way. While cash discounts towards travel may appeal to some, ff miles from cards in the chart generally offer more flexibility for business/first class travel and sometimes for hotel stays etc.

BB, as I noted in the thread about the new *Wood card, there is a bonus of 5K Starpoints added to every 20K Starpoints transferred to a 1:1 ratio program such as AP. If my math is right, this elevates the transfer ratio to 1:1.25 if transfers are made in multiples of 20K. ^

ohcanada:
that point is already covered in notes in the chart:
"• get 5K bonus when transferring 20K or more pt to ff program"
