OT: The "Go Flames Go" thread.

I used to be a die-hard fan of the WPG Jets , even when the Flames were called the Cowboys :D ! But I think I have found a new team to root for! I listened to the game this AM on the internet, and will again on Sunday AM when they bring home(close to home) the cup! Go Flames Go !!

Anyone else going to Game 6?

I believe! (but I didn't at the beginning of the year - who would have thunk that we would be 1 game away from the Stanley Cup?!)

The Winger Jun 4, 2004 8:49 am

YYCOllie, I will be there tomorrow night also. It is going to be a double header sports day. First the Stamps game and then down to the 'Dome. I can't wait!

I was in Fort McMurray this week and cut my meetings short so I could get home last night instead of today. It was well worth it, Wow!!!!!!!!!!! I think Stampede week is going to be a little anti-climatic this year.

One More to Go!

I watched the game in a pub last nite and it was awesome. I think last nite's game was the most exciting of the series so far. The Flames looked unbelievable-should have been 5-1 if not for Khabibulin! Went down "The Red Mile" after the game with 60,000 other Flames lunatics. The Cheer I heard the most was "Flames in Six-Show us your t**ts!. (Any many of them did!)
I own the Shopper's Drug Mart on 8th St and 17th Ave, and we have sold
$100,000 of Flames souvenirs including 4500 of those car flags you see everywhere in Calgary. We have also sold over 200 instant cameras (I wonder what for??) The police have been great, playing it smart-just making people dump out their beer on the street.
What a great nite it will be Saturday- its supposed to be 28 degrees, so they are saying there will be 100,000 people on The Mile if the Flames take the cup.
Unfortunately, I have to work that nite, so I'll have to bring my TV in and hope for minimal interruptions.

GO FLAMES GO!!!!!

Flying into town tonight and wow what timing. No chance of going to the game, but anyone know if they are still having big screen tvs at McMahon (sp?) stadium set up? I thought I heard they were doing that for some of the home games earlier in the playoffs....

Anyone else get tingles listening to the crowd singing the anthem at the last game in Calgary? I wouldn't know what happens in Tampa cuz I'm stuck in basedball crazy Boston and ABC/ESPN has only shown the anthems once, and that was the Monday game "in honour of it being Memorial Day." Each time happens in Vancouver and now Calgary makes me want to return back north...

No , sorry. The Stamps play Sat afternoon, I think. Not logistically workable.

Even I am damn excited back here in jolly old England. The last time I saw the Flames was on New Years Eve 3 years ago - how things have changed. I will be watcjing on TV at about 1am BST trying to stay awake!!!! (With my Flames top on) ^

My wife made me run up to the liquor store last night during the 2nd intermission!!!! She needed some more wine while sitting out on our deck with her girlfriend while I watched the game. I was none to please at the thought of missing even a minute of that game last night. Luckily I made it back in time without breaking any speed limits and we have two playground zones on the way to the store (Calgarians will know what I mean).

I really think the Flames have played incredibly this series. They were all over Tampa and they just got robed by Khabibulin like muskoka said. I know it wouldn't happen logistically but imagine if this was going on during the Stampede. Oh man, I couldn't imagine that party :D I'm almost sad that I moved from 17th Ave and 13th St to the burbs (well just for this part of the year ;) )

Just as muskoka said there have also been significant spin offs for Calgary business as well. I remember during the 2nd round I had stopped into a KFC to get a bite to eat (mmmmm chicken mmmmmm) and they had run out and I had to wait a few minutes. It was a game night and when that next batch came out it was gone in under 5 minutes with all those buckets leaving with everyone else. I got the last 2 pieces of white meat and the lady behind me was out of luck. They (KFC) said it had been crazy since the beginning of the playoffs. Imagine what Pizza, KFC and Chinese Food places are doing for business now! Heck think of the bars and liquor store sales.

Back on topic, even my clients in BWI are all over this series. It seems the east coasties could care less about Shaq and his west coast team and hockey is all the talk. I hardly got any work done today as everyone was coming over to talk about last night's game. Pubs have been more than willing to switch from basketball to the hockey games on their big screens. ^

Sutter has done a great job of getting this team to rebound after each loss. One more Flames and the bragging rights are yours! GO FLAMES GO!!!!

....and for Cattle's sake....Eat More Chiken!!!! :p

I just finished preparing the grub for the tailgate party before the Stamps game, and plan on leaving around the 3rd Quarter to tailgate down at the Flames game. What a day!

Hopefully the boys can finish this off tonight, otherwise I will be burning off some points for an emergency trip to Tampa tomorrow! Go Flames Go!

shuuy Jun 5, 2004 10:29 am

Beaucoup de tailgating?! Zut alors! I wish I could (stupid soccer refeeeing), but I'll find you on the Red Mile after they win, okay? ;)

Go FLAMES GO..

Unfortunately I won't be in the Red Mile area but my g/f is there and she promised to bring me back a Flames Champs hat.. (and a t-shirt). Though she won't be at the game as e-bay has it for over $1,000!! (better to spend that money on merchandise and Mileage Run.).

GO FLAMES GO!!
btw, anybody still remember when they won in 1989? I was stuck in fronf of the T.V. watching with my family..

ooh and for the Jets fans..... check out .. http://www.jetsowner.com/

My wife and I are having a buddy and his girlfirend come over to the house and we are bringing the TV outside onto the patio where we are going to have a BBQ and enjoy some cold beverages while the game is on.

We thought about a bar but sitting outside with free food and drinks is a bit more relaxing. Just hope the thunderstorm doesnt' hit that they are forecasting

Hopefully the severe t-storm watch they just announced is just that a watch and doesn't turn into anything so that can't enjoy the game outside
