"oops" enclosure with EnRoute
Well I received that most useful  of SE benefits in the mail yesterday, and what was with it? Two enclosures. One about the new Latitude passes (fine), the other was something from Canadian Business magazine:
Canada's Business All * Stars ...one the back, they listed the top six. #1 was Janice Wismer, "Canada's Most Innovative Executive". Fine. Then we had "Top CEO". Guess who? "With 28 straight profitable quarters and plans to start flying to sunny destinations, Clive Beddoe has helped turn WestJet into legitimate competition for Air Canada". What next? WS posters in the MLL? Is anyone awake here? You send an enclosure to your very highest tier flyers advertising the competition and recognizing their CEO as the Top CEO in Canada?? HELLO???????????????????     |
Didn't find these flyers in my issue which arrived the other day. However, this further reinforces AC's policy of not censoring material it carries in any of its media...

How about the CBC News InFlight that talks about AC's bankruptcy and union discussions? Always pleasant to watch that whilst flying on AC.

Just opened my June En Route and there was no WS stuff there.

Hmmm, I don't ever remember receiving an En Route in the mail.

The enRoute mailing is one of the unannounced perks of being an SE.. you get a copy of a magazine you probably have flipped through a hundred times with a note that asks you to share the magazine with your friends and family...

Maybe they 'downsized' the person in charge of keeping that mailing list up-to-date then. Are there any 'new' SEs getting En Route?
|
I receive my copy sporadically. Got the first two issues when it started last summer, then nothing through the winter, then this issue last week. There is always a note with the magazine that reminds us that the cost of this mailing was borne by the [non-existent in mine] advertising inserts and not by AC.
Just curious why the "thumbs down" on this thread, Simon. It would seem to me that AC should be applauded for their espousal of free speech, even if it promotes their competition. Same with their inflight news which has consistently had both positive and negative CBC stories about the airline. |
This was my first copy as well, and I am a "new" SE.
I'm also with Blain that it seems rather a waste of money as we've all read it already for the most part. "Thumbs down" = I'm all for free speech, and the news they show is the news of the day. But this was advertising for a third-party magazine that was touting Clive. It's like Bell having an enclosure in your phone bill with an ad for a magazine touting Ted Rogers and the benefits of Rogers High-Speed and how it is great competition for Bell plastered right at the top of the flyer. |
