AC Exec First vs SQ Raffles
I will be completing a Circle Pacific via SIN onto YVR.
I have never flown SQ so I m unsure as to the comfort of the Spacebed, having read many posts in the SQ forum, I have deduced that is is uncomfortable for sitting, but comfortable for sleeping. I have sampled AC's Intl Exec First many times and have been impressed so far. However if SQ is better, then I will definately prefer them. I have a choice of SIN-ICN-YVR on SQ or SIN-HKG-YVR on SQ/AC. Mileage is the same +-5 miles. Which would you reccmend for comfort. I will be able to sample SQ from AKL-SIN, so flying it to try it is not necessary. Any advice, opinions will be greatly appreciated. |
SQ Raffles Class Benefits
I like the Spacebed -- beats AC International J IMHO IFE way, way, way better (huge screen, VOD, tons of channels) Cleaner, newer aircraft Can earn PPS status and AP miles AC Exec First Benefits I think the food is better Nicer amenity kits Maybe more leg room but this depends on your seat. In either case it is ample Service is a pretty subjective measure -- basically I don't really notice either [This message has been edited by ACORD (edited 09-23-2003).] |
I've only tried the old Raffles, but I'd be pretty keen to give the new seats a try. Why not go with SQ and try something different...chances are you'll be doing a lot of flying in AC J seats anyway.

Thanks for the tips, I will try SQ. I like what I read about Book the Cook, fillet mignion and lobster, mmmmmm

Miles related - you will get 25% Class of service premium if you're booked in SQ's J/D class while you don't if you're booked on AC's C class.

No. 25% for all Star Alliance airlines business class if credited to Mileage Plus except UA metal. On UA metal, you ean 50% COS bonus which counts towards status but only half of that will be redeemable.

I only flew SIN-KUL for one hour sitting in a spacebed. It was comfortable for that timeframe. I didn't notice anything major.

Actually, AA doesn't give status miles based on (paid) CoS (I've learned this painfully). (Actually, they always did. There were three streams you could take to status -- segments (gold and platinum only), points, or miles. The miles route just gave you 1 mile for 1 mile flown, but points came in 50%, 100%, 125% and 150% forms, depending on fare.) |
I vote you take Raffles. Flew it just last week from LHR to SIN and REALLY enjoyed the service and amenities. I thought the food was good with a Western and Asian option. The level of service by the flight attendants is awesome, they really take pride in the job they do and are very attentive.

Due to time/logistics constraints and being able to get a cheaper fare, I will be doing the YVR-SYD on AC then onto AKL on NZ. SQ will have to wait for another day.
