Managing Multiple Mileage Programs
 

A year or so ago (maybe two or three years!) there was a thread on here about web sites that could manage your flight, hotel and other mileage programs for you.

Does anyone remember what it was and whether it's worth the money these days? I tried the free trial period and felt, at the time, it wasn't worth the $$$.

I think the article you might have seen was from InsideFlyer (Sept 2003), and it is here.

For what it's worth, I use yodlee because it manages some programs other options wouldn't or couldn't, like AMEX Membership Rewards (Canada) and Air Miles (Canada). And this option is free!

I tried to install Yodle but it couldn't seem to install a "root".

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the Yodlee Assistant. Don't install that (there is an option to decline it), you don't need it. It's just a pain anyway.

But it doesn't appear to manage hotel program points. Am I missing something here?

Sure it does. Look under Travel -> Reward & Mileage Programs -> Hotels. There are some 20 options to choose from.

Not everything is where you'd think it should be. AMEX Membership Rewards can be found under Shopping -> E-Commerce Reward Programs for example. But there is a search function that should help you find whatever you are looking for (if they have it).

I like Yodlee. Also helps me to load usernames and passwords (although some of the interfaces don't work that well). In addition. The biggest problems? I find the site quite slow, and its quite complex (note where AmEx MR appear, and the Hotel points aren't easily found).

I use MileTracker (www.miletracker.com) which is a downloadable program that lets you keep track of a lot of different FF and hotel program balances on one screen. I like it because it can show multiple account holders at the same time. You can jump directly to each program's website or to the associated FT forum.

This is what I used before Yodlee. My biggest disappointment with it was that although Membership Rewards is available as an option, it never worked for Canadian accounts. E-mails sent to the developer were never returned.

But now that I'm used to Yodlee (and I agree with the above that initial setup isn't as simple as it could be), I rather like that I can access it from anywhere without having to have my own PC with me. And, similar to MileTracker, you can auto-login to any chosen program's site right from the balance screen.

..............too bad it doesn't include Delta Hotels............

I didn't even know they had an in-house point program. I knew you could earn FF miles there, but not "Delta points".
