I miss BA, but I’d argue AC and Star have better lounges at LHR too (except for the Concorde Room obviously). Also AC’s higher frequencies (4x YYZ-LHR daily), plus free SDCs, have a huge value as well if you travel frequently. This year I’ve already saved many thousands of dollars with AC’s SDCs in J. Lastly, YYZ T3 (BA) is a complete and utter dump compared to T1, but that’s offset by LHR T5 being better than T2 (especially if you’re BA Gold).

Not exactly a sale but a promo, regardless. Free standard seat selection and free changes from Aug 27 - Sept 12 in order to 'welcome you back'

This is kind of helpful right? I.e. business regular now comes w a free change as opposed to change fee, so no need to buy business flexible as an example? Ditto w standard vs flex fares (except for the higher eupgrade costs and brutal SQC earning on standard?)

standard seat selection might be a net negative for elites, but one-time free changes is useful (though J/PY flex is still fully refundable, and I wouldn’t necessarily expect the free change to include cancelling to AC wallet)

There are times I booked Flex and eUpgraded when I would have booked J Lowest if it had free changes (i.e. free refund to Wallet), because I wasn't confident enough the trip would happen.

They're definitely missing out on revenue from me when a mid-range Y fare includes free changes, but J Lowest does not.

So if anyone figures this out, let me know, and I might throw some cash at AC.

I'm the same, I'll buy Flex or Comfort and use eUps rather than buy J Low. Free changes on J low might get me convinced to buy a handful of J Low fares that I have coming up in the fall. Still not refundable, but I'll take it. Although the changes say only in the original cabin so maybe less useful than actual flexible J Low.

It seems the current promotion allows for one free change, but the cancellation fee remains equal to its usual value. I just booked a P fare to Japan, and the rules state free change but a $600 cancellation fee.

The promo seems to indicate that new bookings only should be eligible for free seat selection. But I was able to select standard seats for an existing September 10 booking.

agreed, huge difference if it does refund to Wallet; also the new booking flow makes no mention that the free change only applies once

Moderator note: as a promo has now been launched and someone has created a new thread with a detailed OP, I'm going to close this one.
