ORD of course was a mess. So after 2.5 hours of sleep, got back on the plane to DTW the next morning.

Net result:

AC - ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
UA - :td: :td: :td: :td: :td:

And I will forever be in debt to the concierge in YVR who saved my trip. :)

Hawt diggity dang! Even the concierge's family was in on it :D

I have similar encounters with UA robots too. You just need to reach around their back and hit the "off" switch. :p

^ Awesome story Simon !

I'd like to thank Dyane T, Chantale B and Sylvie in YUL who last night helped out a buddy (E) and companion travelling to EWR on W tickets as all hell broke loose with severe weather to NYC airports.

In the end all LGA and EWR flights ex-YUL after 1600 were cancelled. My friends were protected on the first LGA flight this morning and received help booking and getting a good rate at a hotel close to YUL.

:)

The group at YYC have been superb all along. Naming anyone will be a disservice to the others as they are the most helpful bunch I have encountered. Keep it up AC ^

Resurrecting a 3 year old quote to give thanks (not to the Habs of course :p ) but to Kim in YEG and John in YWG. I had left YWG this AM, leaving my sunglasses in the MLL. I spoke to Kim in the YEG MLL who called John in YWG. John then called me this afternoon to say that he checked my PNR and given that I'm in YVR tomorrow, he'll put the glasses on a flight from YWG to YVR and then a concierge in YVR will meet me before I board in the PM to return to YYZ to give me back my sunglasses.

Kim, John - you guys rock!

There was a concierge outside at the Jazz gates tonight. ^

Must be all the money AC/Jazz is making on the 100% full flights to YSB ;)
Need to look after all us revenue types :D

Man, those concierges at AC rock. I do need to comment though on the above -- if you do a quick search of the UA forum, you will see many instances of the exact same conversation that *G members have had at MLLs .

Were they also AC E flying in J?

The UA agent could even have talked to the AC concierge in ORD to verify.

No, they were *G (UA 1P or 1K). Shows up on the BP. Flying in domestic F does not get you into the RCC, unfortunately.

(I once had the UAL check in agent call the MLL once when I didn't have my card, she was told to send me there, but I was told upon arrival that I couldn't get in. I mentioned the phone call, and thankfully had asked the checkin agent for the Matron's name, and only after mentioning this was grudgingly let in. Few are so lucky.)

Of course, I think the MLL is worth arguing for, not so much the RCC, which is barely better than the concourse IMHO.

I know this. I was told by captains and in charges, however, that "UA will take care of you." They didn't. They didn't hold the flight, they didn't provide me an easy way to rebook, and they didn't let me access the lounge.

Agreed -- big difference here, and as I pointed out to the matron/dragon, is that RCCs have two or three people behind them who can rebook you, etc., hence avoiding the lineup of 300 people at "customer care" at ORD on a thundery night. This is all I was after.

Thanks (once again) to Anne Rosen in YYZ for helping me with a CDG ticket, initially purchased for a March trip, which I've had to move to new dates for a second time as I sit here waiting the doc's OK for business travel.

Doc Fraud Jun 25, 2006 1:49 am

SYD was a zoo this morning. I know it's school holidays and all, but SYD looked like YYZ on the first Saturday of March break in a snowstorm. The lines to customs/imigration were literally backed up to the duty free store and once through the immigration check, the quarantine lines were even worse. People were having a hard time collecting their bags because of the people backing up from the quarantine inspections.

Caroline the concierge pulled a rabbit out of her hat, and surprised me by meeting my flight, and personally escorting me through the mess and over to QF for my last leg to MEL. So despite the horrid conditions, I breezed through thanks to the proactive thinking of the excellent SYD concierge team. ^

Another great experience in YWG

I just wanted to point out how impressed I am with the YWG concierge service. Almost every trip they meet the plane and say hello. I know it is a small airport but I see them the most active, even over smaller airports like YEG, where you would think should be similar or better for service.

John met my plane today and helped my wife and kids down to baggage as I didn't have enough time to go out and clear security again.

I just find them extremly helpful and friendly and wanted to say thanks.

Kudos to YWG

Thats the ONLY good thing in UA RCC the agents we can book with... its something AC should consider.

The concierges have found a way to do some rearranging of flights for me from the MLL. The regular MLL receptionist may not be able or aware of how to do it, but the concierges in YYZ and LGA seem to pull it off.

...& to Tamara Hanley (Concierge - YYZ); for having my lost mobile phone found somewhere on my inbound aircraft, then delivered to my seat on my outbound flight, during a tight connection! ^
