Unfortunately, it is totally unworkable.

Interline tickets involve a revenue share between the ticketing carrier and the operating carrier. In order to aware points based on revenue, you have to reveal to the traveller what the revenue share is. Having done that, you have then revealed it to commercial competitors, as well.

you can become elite with any Star-Alliance frequent-flier program ... without ever flying (paying anything to) the one you have/get elite-status with ...

Here is an example of a revenue based FF program that makes sense:

Is United 1K the equivalent to AC SE?
If so,100 segments is what is required to make 1K.AC requires 150 segments.
Interesting for me as I generally get between 90-110 segments per year.

At least UA is starting to recognize revenue. They still make it more complex than necessary, with differentiating qualifying miles vs redeemable miles on certain fares.

At least they give more EQM's than RMs, unlike Tango fares which is the exact opposite (0 EQM).

And the operative words are...

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Unlike many of our competitors,</font>
Competition setting the bar higher.

'Course UA is just "competing" with AA, which announced a similar (though slightly more generous) scheme last week.

Aeroplan is by far the most revenue based NAmerican FF program going now. [Delta is nexr.] For those who pay the least, the mileage earned is the least [and non status]. For those who actually pay for full fare J or Y, the return is relatively higher than any of the US carriers. Revenue based is just that, not some bell curve that rewards the middle and lower ends and still undervalues the top end, as the US carriers still follow.
