PY check-in at GRU
Miss Sofasurfer will be visiting a friend in GRU later this year, and I've booked her on AC90/91 in PY.
Can anyone confirm what the PY check-in arrangements are at GRU for AC pax? This will be the first time she is travelling solo, and while we've transited through GRU in the past, it was several years ago and I'm not familiar with their landside setup - so any other info that could be useful for her would be appreciated! |

If you have one, you could use one of your status passes for her. Then she will have lounge access in addition to priority check-in.
-- 13F She may get lucky with lounge access if partner J availability opens up (not to mention lie-flat on a red-eye)... her flight back is a flexible reward in PY - which was cheaper than the restricted one, for some reason, although still painful thanks to dynamic pricing :-/ Kind of had to lock in due to fairly fixed dates, and couldn't face putting her through that length of flight in Y. Once she is in a position start to earn some proper miles/points of her own, she can start to contribute to the household accounts ;-) |
Our last travels through GRU were en route to and from EZE during which AC managed to make a mess of things both times, including downgrading us from PY at the counter and encouraging a free for all during boarding, ignoring status, but I'm sure this was bad luck as we've had great experiences there also.
With that being said, during what turned out to be an extended layover at GRU, we accessed the Centurion lounge which we found to be a more than adequate place to relax, have a meal with a drink, and have a quick shower. IIRC it was a bit of a hike from the terminal we landed at (~15-20 minute walk) If you both have Amex Plat, she will have no problem accessing the lounge. If it is in your name, you should only need to add her as an AU for access. |
