YYZ Travel Advisory - Dec 23 to 26 (likely)
UPDATE: TRAVEL ADVISORY WENT UP 7PM DECEMBER 19
https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...outlook.html#/
SO FAR ONLY DEC 23, BUT THAT WILL PROBABLY CHANGE FAST SINCE THE MAJORITY OF THE STORM HITS THE 24TH.
If you track any weather geeks, you'll know that they've been chattering for at least a week about a weather bomb hitting southern Ontario during this time period.
It's gone from chatter to real, and now it's only a question of when AC will put out an advisory.
If you have any travel plans on Air Canada during this time, you might want to start thinking about other plans, and keep an eye on the advisory page. I've got some relatives going from YHZ-YYZ-FLL on the 23rd, and know it won't go well; I'm now actively watching for them. The flights to Florida for days are all full.
Hazards are a potential blizzard; high winds; flash freeze; zero visibility; fun stuff like that.
All the weather expeerst are in agreement it is going to happen;' now it's just the details of how east/west it will go, whcih will determine the rain/snow likne.
Suffice it tos ay, they are all using the word 'historica' a lot.

For once it looks like the Christmas storm will begin after I arrive and end before I leave. Hopefully there aren't too many cancellations or my return flight upgrade (which is already looking bad) may not happen.

YOW can usually handle some weather. There may be delays for deicing or while the runways are being cleared, but flights generally leave, eventually.
The problem is if the plane comes from YYZ or YUL -- then it's anyone's guess whether the plane will make it to YOW to operate your flight.
Says he, who has a flight out of YOW on a plane that does not come from YYZ or YUL on the evening of the 23rd.

Dec 22 night
Flying out on Dec 22 evening - if say things change and I get weather alert on Dec 22, does it mean I still have to fare difference if I change to Dec 21? Just no change fee? This is such a poor timing with so many ppl travelling this weekend!
