Just found this. No idea AC flies to Midway. Is this a cargo or charter flight? What does AC7xxx generally mean? Thanks a lot!

Did Oilers play Chicago recently?

TheCanuckian Nov 27, 2022 6:32 am

That is one of the Jetz aircraft so it's flying teams around.

No, they were in NYC with games against Islanders Fri. & Rangers yesterday before returning home for a game tomorrow against Florida.

Jets should be in Chicago already as puck drop against Hawks today is 5PM and this flight is mid-aft. And why would Jets be in Edmonton with Oilers on the road?

indogulf Nov 27, 2022 11:51 am

That's the flight coming to pick them up after the game.

Flight to get them out of there after the game. Obviously.

Jetz aircraft often stay with a team through a road trip, so sometimes it's easy to match the aircraft's flying to a team's schedule. For example, I went to every game on a Flames road trip (Predators, Lightning, Panthers, Hurricanes) a number of years ago, and the Flames' aircraft did YYC-BNA-TPA-FLL-RDU-YYC.

But other times, AC is short capacity and needs to shuffle aircraft around, or use a non-Jetz aircraft for a trip. Here's another post I wrote largely on this topic a few weeks ago.

Great thanks to everyone for answering this question! Obviously I watched too few hockey games. Go Jets!

I suppose "because charter" is the answer, but to confirm, that is how AC can do US Dom flights?

Yes. And DL could, say, fly the Avalanche from YYC to YVR.

AC A320 at YXU this morning (Sept. 27)

An Air Canada A320 landed this morning at YXU. It docked at gate 7. Flightaware is showing her arriving from BUF. Does anyone know the purpose of the flight? Is AC testing the grounds for some A320 flights? Can we look forward to some more flights from YXU?

That's C-FKOJ, one of the Air Canada Jetz planes. It's been bouncing around between Boston, Buffalo, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary for the last couple of weeks. Maybe it's hockey-related? If there's any non-NHL team that I could see chartering a jet, it'd be the Knights....
