Boeing 787-9 (789) seating questions
Got PY for YYZ-PVG.
I flew 13A last year YYZ-PEK and did not sleep much. 12A fully reclined for the whole trip and required gymnastics to get out of my seat when I needed to use the bathroom.
Eyeing 12A/K now (need window side to sleep). I know there is no leg rest or foot rest. Will the FA be ok if I take my carryon out of overhead and put it flat on the ground to serve as a foot rest?
Im only 54 and need some sort of foot rest to sleep well

Flying ZRH-YVR in J. For a westbound daytime flight, is the A or K side preferred? Is the left or right side the sunny side? 1A, 4A, 4K are my top choices for now. Traveling alone.

787-9 seat recs in Premium Economy
Sorry if I'm missing this kind of thread... but wondering flyer's experiences on the 787-9 in Premium Economy. If there is a threat... can a moderator move this there?
Will be flying PE this summer to Europe. Row 12 looks nice as nobody is reclining back on you but gets a yellow for "close to lav". Do you hear the flush or smell the bathroom? Row 14 looks nice as nobody is behind you (but I found a review that "beware, there may be an infant behind you in 1st row of economy"). I've found people saying 13 is the way to go... but you don't get the legroom of 12 or nobody behind you touching seat to get up or watch video.
Any recs for the 2 side seats?
Thx

Welcome to AC FT.
First, if you haven't seen the photos of the seats and rows, you can look at this thread.
Seats and Cabins on the B788, B789, and the 777 (3 versions)
More specifically, in the wiki, you'll see a list of posts that have photos of the Premium Economy cabin and seats. To save you some time, see posts 2, 3, 7, 15 and 20
I've sat in 12A and 12K. Lots of legroom, but no foot rest, IFE is stored in the arm rest so seats are a bit more narrow than rows 13 and 14.
I've flown across the Pacific a couple of times in 14A and 14C, and across the Atlantic in 14 middles.
Babies can be everywhere including the middle section of row 12 in Premium Economy, not just row 18 in Economy.
Also, I'll add the usual disclaimer: YMMV and if you ask 10 people which seats are best on any aircraft of any airline, you'll likely get 15 different answers (or whatever the current math multiple is.

Personally I like row 13. It has footrests (unlike row 12) and has a one-row buffer before Economy. If two of us are flying, I'll try to get window and aisle seat combo (13A/C or 13H/K). If flying solo, I like the centre aisle seats since if PE isn't full the middle seat is most likely to be empty giving you even more space (13D or 13G). AS 24left said YMMV.

I hate 13/14 because the PY seats recline quite significantly, and if the person in front of you reclines, it really encroaches in your space.

Definitely makes it difficult to use a laptop, so if the person in front of you decides to have a nap on your afternoon transcon you might be screwed.

I usually travel in 13AC or 14AC with my daughter for TPAC/TATL (wife is up in business, ha) in order to be able to stow bags under the seats in front of us. But Cow is right, the PY seats recline A LOT. I can live with it, but it can be annoying if you are trying to watch the IFE or use a laptop. If I were traveling solo in PY (I usually do J), then I'd prefer 12AC. I haven't noticed any bathroom sound/smell problems.
