Name Change/Correction on Basic Ticket
I booked a ticket for someone on October 5 and they gave me their name as :: Peter Rabbit Smith (first-middle -last)
ticket reads Smith/ Peter Rabbit. No problem when I sent the ticket over. Secretary emailed 5 minutes ago (after 5P here) and said she thinks the name should be RABBIT SMITH/ Peter . I asked her to verify before I do any phone calling with Air Canada. Pax is flying from CHI-Toronto on the 8th of November and the pax wanted BASIC ECONOMY to boot. Space is not available for the low $600 fare we had a few weeks ago. New fare is $1800 and in first class. IF the secretary is right..does Air Canada require a complete cancel /rebook? SInce the ticket is BE , I suspect the money is lost and pax must fork over another $1800 for a new ticket. |
It shouldn’t be a problem.

You sure ? I can't get through to AC for an hour (hold time) . Website says minor name corrections allowed for a penalty AND fare difference.
I am going to call tomorrow when I settle down. . Must . Walk. Away. |
Last Name = Smith
F Name = Peter M Name = Rabbit It'll show Smith / Peter Rabbit on AC and Smith / PeterRabbit on United lol. It's fine. |
Wait. A secretary thinks the names is wrong, as in, you don't know your employees name?
AC gives 24 hours to cancel. Why did you not forward the details onto the employee immediately, providing them directly details and comfort of knowledge on a major trip? Mesmell a problem, and it ain't AC. |

You’re not the first to face this problem. As long as the names on the ID matches the ticket, doesn’t really matter.
RABBIT SMITH/PETER will be the same as SMITH/PETER RABBIT to the check in or gate agent. They don’t have enough time to scrutinize or question why a last name ended up in the middle name field or a middle name ended up in a last name field. |
Seconding the above - This is not a material issue

I have an issue as well as in a spelling error. I have a EE instead of I in the last name. Could I get it corrected and yes I know that it is my fault and I may have to pay a fee. I am in a country where there is no Air Canada office and any advice on how I can get it corrected?

This can be fixed at check in. Misspelled names happen a lot, especially if it’s booked over the phone, or the name is in a foreign language or uncommon spelling.

Update. They were very accommodating and checked in without any hassle unlike EVA who charged me 90 dollars for the very same thing. Very happy with AC until they spoiled the whole thing by the carry on SWAT guys.

It's unclear what your itinerary was and who issued the ticket, but being charged 90 bucks to avoid having your trip derailed is a win in my books.

Can you transfer an Air Canada reservation to someone else? I believe domestic Canadian tickets are transferable. Is that accurate? What is the fee?
