Important Event Notes - FAQ
  • It’s in November. That’s not really fall, is it?
Yes, technically it’s still fall until December 21.
  • Will the YYC Fall Do offer superior dining and beverage service?
Yes. The restaurant has a very long whisky list and the best burgers in town. You can savour a sit-down meal from the ŕ la carte menu crafted for the Do.
  • What if I like hockey puck beef?
Then you're a weirdo, but I guess you can ask them to do it.

Important Event Notes (real ones this time!)
  • The burger and Scotch theme is purely optional. Those are the specialties of the restaurant, but you're free to have a salad and a Coke Zero, fish and white wine or whatever floats your boat.
  • We will have access to a few of the restaurant's recent Whisky Wednesday tasting menus which offer a flight of 3-4 whiskies at a reduced price. For past Do attendees, this is the same as previous years

Sounds like this event will be as packed as the YUL DOM MLL at 17:00 on a Friday.

Hopefully with better food and no need to line up outside though.

Thanks Adam Smith .

I arrive in Calgary (late) the night before - does anyone have any interest in getting together for a pre-do (for lunch, etc)?

I've moved myself to the confirmed list. But, I'll be leaving early for my flight out to YVR and on to HKG.

Adam Smith, I owe you a drink or two for that cemetery tour ticket!

I moved the bovine to confirmed. For the record, he's The_Phoenix179 on FT.

I know in the past a few people have talked about going to the mountains during the day. Someone also suggested to me privately that some might be interested in going to the Flames game that evening (would be post-dinner rather than pre-dinner).

Look forward to seeing you, even if briefly!

Really? I don't really remember, don't worry about it

Yeah, I typed up the list for the wiki, then meant to transform a few of the names before putting it in the post so that people would get notified, but I was on a business call and sort of got distracted... Does he ever use FT though? I was going to tag you for a response from him

Should we list our flights, seats, and hotels on the wiki? I'm booked inbound to YYC on the 5th on AC210 in J, and outbound on the 6th on AC213 in J. No seats selected or hotels booked as of yet.

Wikis can be edited by anyone with 90 posts and 90 days on FT

I will be staying at the Chateau Smith. The bed is comfortable and the bar is great, but it's quite small, and I'm sure it's sold out for the night in question

FYI I have a confirmed suite at the Hyatt Regency so I can host an after-party if it's too cold for a bar crawl.

I think AC223 is at risk of becoming >50% FTers in J.

Too short a trip for an-inflight Do, luckily.

I'm more concerned about 223. I think there's at least 5? of us on it so far.

Here was the scene on Saturday morning. The great thing about YYC weather is you can take this whichever way you want: either we've already had our unseasonably early snowfall and should be okay for the Do, or winter is here and the Do is doomed (Do-omed?), weather-wise

I was just looking at what it would take to get on it. I'm either gonna have to cancel my first booking (AE lowest) and use my latitude flight pass at T-48 if there is any J space, or risk it and go for the SDC. Now that I'm older I get bad hangovers. After flying halfway around the world the odds are I'll need the extra time to sleep that 223 allows.
