Using 2 e-coupons on one aeroplan booking
Hi all, has anybody faced this before?
We have a lot of e-coupons from Air Canada (like 10, totaling $4200). I want to use two of them (per the terms and conditions) to pay the fees and taxes on an aeroplan booking. Online allows me to put one in and deducts it accordingly but there is then no way to put in the second e-coupon. Is this just a glitch? Do I have to call in? or do I have a misunderstanding about the use of these e-coupons. Just as an additional note, I tried booking a cash ticket and it will allow me to put two e-coupons in |
If I had to guess, it's part of the fact that you can only use two forms of payment for a ticket. Aeroplan points and one more.

I concur with canadiancow.
To my understanding the only way that two e-coupons can be used is if the two coupons fully cover the ticket(s) being purchased: e.g. You have a $400 eCoupon and $300 eCoupon You wish to purchase a $650 ticket You have the option of using both eCoupons (the second coupon applied will have $50 value carried over with the original expiry date) or you could use either one of the coupons along with a different payment option that fully covers the rest. Unfortunately, unlike gift cards, eCoupons cannot be consolidated. |

Gift cards cannot be consolidated either last time I checked. Are you suggesting otherwise? (Sorry for being a bit off topic)
They can, however, be reloaded, so if one has $600 across two gift cards, and wants to apply that full amount to a $650 ticket (rather than using just one of the gift cards along with a secondary payment like a credit card), they can load $50 onto one of those cards to bring the combined value of those two gift cards up to the full amount of the ticket. (my apologies as well also for being a bit off topic) |

To answer one of my own questions, apparently calling in will not help as Aeroplan agents can't use two either. There is a restriction noted that only one can be used when making changes to an existing booking, such as seat or travel options, due to system constraints. Not sure how it would be remotely applicable to Aeroplan bookings, but might be the reason why it won't work. |
