Flight pass price increases (2022-23)

I'm trying to figure out the logic in AC raising the prices by such a large amount. This is probably going to reduce their FP revenue in the interim. Are they going to continue to increase the price of regular fare to bridge the gap between these FP prices until FF determine that buying FPs once again is reasonable?

I'm also wondering about the logic behind these dramatic price increases. I can't imagine regular fares are going to increase by the same proportions. Is there a large population of corporate flight pass buyers that will continue to buy them at the higher prices and offset the loss in sales? Is this some accountant pushing for Flex M flight pass credits to be priced like regular Flex M fares (and so forth)? Is AC trying to kill off flight passes by making them unpalatable?

For YVR-SFO, a Lat FP credit is now roughly the same price as just buying Latitude. So there's no cost benefit to buying the pass any more

The Sun Passes have actually been a bargain for a long time, and immune from the increases applied to other passes. This is a massive jump though - I wonder if they are aware of upcoming changes to the competitive landscape that will result in regular Flex/Latitude fares to increase as well?

Another factor that might contribute to this increase is that these Sun Pass routes were operated by Rouge for a while and now appear to be solidly mainline/express.

Call me cynical, but I really wonder if they are just jacking them up now so that AC can promote a MASSIVE!!!! 20% off sale for FPs in the near future.

I can't help but notice that they have increased last minute fares over the last few years, more than FPs perhaps? Maybe they are just trying to bring FPs more in line with the ridiculous last minute fares?
For example YEG-YYJ is pricing out around $800 this week one way, in economy. I also checked routes like YOW-YUL, and YUL-YQB and last minute fares are similar. A few years back last minute YEG-YYJ was more like $400, and the western commuter flex was about $250 per credit.

Comp upgrades to J? eUps/SQM for FP activity? Still some benefits, but not much.

I am new to this whole Aeroplan thing and I am still trying to figure things out, especially optimising the relationship between Aeroplan, ACV, Bonvoy and AmEx.
My wife and I should both reach 75K by the end of 2023, which is the end of our first full Aeroplan year, with SE possible for one of us due to AmEx Reserve spending.
The only FP that comes close to making economic sense to me that also matches our travel needs is the European 2 passenger, 8 leg FP. There are others that match our travel needs but are economically nonsensical.
One of the things that makes no sense to me is the flat SQM granted for each FP activity for 50K+ members. I get the same SQM for a FP costing $1,012 and a FP costing $32,296. A much more logical scheme would be to award a 15% bonus for SQM earned from using a FP leg.

Do you mean the select benefit? That is a bonus you get for purchasing the FP (with a few exceptions of FPs that AC considers promotional). For the non-unlimited FPs, you should earn SQM according to the actual flights taken (including COS bonus if you have a lat/J FP) as well as SQD for the FP credit.
