What is the Air Canada Chauffer Service?

AC offers selected passengers rides from the domestic portion of the terminal to the international terminal, when they're connecting to a flight in international business class, a.k.a. Signature Class. The vehicles are provided by Porsche.

If you are selected for the service, you will be met by a concierge at the gate/on the jetbridge of your arriving domestic flight, and escorted to the vehicle. You will then be driven to the international departures area.

This service was first offered in 2015, until being suspended due to COVID in 2020, and previously used BMW vehicles. The previous thread is here.

Where is the service offered?

YYZ and YVR.

Who, exactly, is eligible?

According to the AC Signature Service page: "Customers originally booked and ticketed in Air Canada Signature Class (J, C, D, Z or P class) or on Aeroplan Business Class Flexible Reward, with a connection via Toronto Pearson International Airport or Vancouver International Airport to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia or New Zealand on an Air Canada-operated flight. Subject to availability."

These are the same rules that apply to accessing the Signature Suite.

The chauffeur service is only available on connections from domestic flights (i.e. within Canada) to international flights (destinations described above). It is not available if connecting to or from the US, from another international flight, or from international to domestic.

How do I make sure I get the chauffer service? Can I reserve it?

You can't. Even if you're eligible, there are no guarantees that you'll get it.

Hmmm....

Super Elite for a few years now.

Last 3 years been flying international paid J with many connections through YYZ.

Never seen this or been offered it. Didn't even know it was a feature offered until reading this thread.

I must be one of the unlucky ones.

What's the current status?

Occurs to me that in the last 6-7 eligible trips through Toronto, not only have I been zero, but I haven't even seen anyone else on my flights whisked away. Before, I was about 1 for 2.

Is the program still running? If yes, have I done something wrong?

The program is still running as I am certain a person on my flight to YYZ earlier this week obtained the service (met on the jetway by an AC staffer wearing a safety vest). Remember its a surprise & delight service, partially depending upon connecting time. I am 0 for 4 recently but have always had 2 plus hours, so not surprising.

I don't think it depends on connection time.

The one time I've had it (which, I believe, is also my only DTI connection since the service launched), I had something like 5 hours.

Which also meant I was arriving well before anyone in the evening bank of Europe flights would likely be arriving, so they would have had a lot less demand than they would at 1700.

My understanding (which is definitely dated) was that it was "all VIPs", followed by "SS-eligible J pax based on availability".

I've had a few eligible DTI (all in the past couple of years) and never seen evidence of this. My flight earlier today arrived well ahead of the busy Europe departure block too.

I've been zero-for-years now (about 15 eligible flights) although I've seen other people get a lift.
