What is the Air Canada Chauffer Service?

AC offers selected passengers rides from the domestic portion of the terminal to the international terminal, when they're connecting to a flight in international business class, a.k.a. Signature Class. The vehicles are provided by Porsche.

If you are selected for the service, you will be met by a concierge at the gate/on the jetbridge of your arriving domestic flight, and escorted to the vehicle. You will then be driven to the international departures area.

This service was first offered in 2015, until being suspended due to COVID in 2020, and previously used BMW vehicles. The previous thread is here.

Where is the service offered?

YYZ and YVR.

Who, exactly, is eligible?

According to the AC Signature Service page: "Customers originally booked and ticketed in Air Canada Signature Class (J, C, D, Z or P class) or on Aeroplan Business Class Flexible Reward, with a connection via Toronto Pearson International Airport or Vancouver International Airport to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia or New Zealand on an Air Canada-operated flight. Subject to availability."

These are the same rules that apply to accessing the Signature Suite.

The chauffeur service is only available on connections from domestic flights (i.e. within Canada) to international flights (destinations described above). It is not available if connecting to or from the US, from another international flight, or from international to domestic.

How do I make sure I get the chauffer service? Can I reserve it?

You can't. Even if you're eligible, there are no guarantees that you'll get it.

Unless you see them whisked away into a car (and I think depending on the gate that can happen in different places), it's hard to say why they were met.
Oh for sure, I have had the concierge with my name on the iPad many times for various reasons.

I'm talking about instances where I am behind a couple of rows, and someone ahead of me in J is having the conversation with the Concierge and I can hear them talking about the service when you walk by at the end of the jetbridge. If you take a 4 / 5 / 6pm flight from YOW to YYZ there is a significant number of people connecting in YYZ to international. Just haven't noticed it at all in the last year.

I have made 2 domestic to international connections- December 2022: YUL-YVR- BKK, March 2023: YYZ-YVR-BKK: One was a relatively short connection time of 90 minutes and the other was 3 hrs+. No Signature transfer service. All were J fares.
Air Canada's Signature Service transfer is a sham. I say that because the service is sporadic and not guaranteed. Prior to Covid, I flew multiple domestic to International flights connecting in YYZ and YVR. I was a mere E50 orE75 at the time and only received the transfer once in YYZ. No, I am not unlucky, nor an undesirable. I just think Air Canada promotes and sells a service that it intentionally knows that it will not provide.

The last time I had an ITD connection was in Feb (YVR-YYZ-LHR) on a 2hr layover. My partner and I were in points J and I'm SE. We didn't get the Porsche, but there was another couple on our flight disembarking from J who ran off the plane claiming that they had a tight connection, and I saw them walking out to a Porsche with the concierge - so feels very much YMMV, and more likely with tight connection.

I got the Chauffeur service! Someone was waiting with the Windows Surface Pro with my name on it.
I was coming from YHZ through YYZ, landed at 15:00. I was on a Flexible Reward ticket, no status (yet).

When I asked about the chauffeur service when I called Aeroplan for another matter, the rep there told me that since I am transiting through YYZ during non-peak time, the rep estimated there is 80% chance I will get it, and voil, that representative was correct!

Turned out I landed when there were two drivers rather than only one, so that probably played a role.

I didn’t get any advance notification about this, so I didn’t expect anything. So this was a true surprise and delight for me!

Has anyone gotten this service at YVR recently? I have a couple of YYZ-YVR-SYD trips coming up and am wondering if there's any likelihood of skipping that long walk.

I have never received this service but I don't usually do paid J to SYD but am SE.

When I flew 33 on Sunday I didn't see anyone waiting to take anyone to a car. Although something to be said about getting your steps in before a 15 hour flight

I'd forgotten about this service.
Will see if it's offered to me tomorrow for YKA-YVR-LHR in Bizz Class (revenue)

I'll be traveling paid J YUL-YYZ-FRA (arriving YYZ 5:30pm) with an elderly relative who can walk, but slowly. If I mention this to AC, will it increase the chance of a Porsche or an airport buggy?

Certainly a golf cart. Probably not the Porsche.

Interested in hearing about your experience on this as I'm flying a similar route in a month with a ~90 minute connection.

No German ride today.
The walk earned a extra glass of champers in the SS

Got the Porsche service today for our 3 hour connection in YYZ.

Not remotely necessary, but it's a nice service and got us to our food and libations faster.

Got it today for my just under 4 hour connection on YVR-YYZ-FRA.

Walking up the jet bridge, I saw someone walking a pax out a door, so I figured I wasn't getting it. But there was another concierge past the podium in the departures area holding a sign with my name.

I had to carry my bag down the stairs. I'm fine with that, but it could be an issue for others. I'm not sure if there was an elevator available.

On the other side, I was shocked how far away from the SS they dropped you off. Basically beside the escalators you'd normally walk down, before going through the sculpture.

I got it today. She walked up the stairs with me and I said I was good from there (just through that ugly display and to the left). Concierge who met me was awesome (Sandra?).

I am a brand new SE and my fare was a steal of a deal, so I suspect I was the only paid J SE on my YVR-YYZ-X (I am headed to AMS).
