Air Canada Chauffeur Service (YYZ & YVR, DOM > INTL J connections)

What is the Air Canada Chauffer Service?

AC offers selected passengers rides from the domestic portion of the terminal to the international terminal, when they're connecting to a flight in international business class, a.k.a. Signature Class. The vehicles are provided by Porsche.

If you are selected for the service, you will be met by a concierge at the gate/on the jetbridge of your arriving domestic flight, and escorted to the vehicle. You will then be driven to the international departures area.

This service was first offered in 2015, until being suspended due to COVID in 2020, and previously used BMW vehicles. The previous thread is here.

Where is the service offered?

YYZ and YVR.

Who, exactly, is eligible?

According to the AC Signature Service page: "Customers originally booked and ticketed in Air Canada Signature Class (J, C, D, Z or P class) or on Aeroplan Business Class Flexible Reward, with a connection via Toronto Pearson International Airport or Vancouver International Airport to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia or New Zealand on an Air Canada-operated flight. Subject to availability."

These are the same rules that apply to accessing the Signature Suite.

The chauffeur service is only available on connections from domestic flights (i.e. within Canada) to international flights (destinations described above). It is not available if connecting to or from the US, from another international flight, or from international to domestic.

How do I make sure I get the chauffer service? Can I reserve it?

You can't. Even if you're eligible, there are no guarantees that you'll get it.

Youíre eligible according to the published rules. Nothing to do in advance

The two-year break and new vehicle provider seemed like a good reason to split this off to a new thread. I've used my moderator powers to do that and thrown the key info in to a wiki.

Looks like the same vehicles as Lufthansa is using at the Frankfurt First Class Terminal these days. Nice!

Is this happening still, with all of the chaos and staffing issues?

I have a domestic-Europe transfer at YYZ on Monday, in paid J, as a SE. Just curious as to what the chances are I might see this.

Iíd be shocked if they are. You cannot cancel flights because you have no staff and still staff this, but AC has done lots of stupid things so who knows.

I flew to LHR (PHX-YYZ-LHR) on a paid J ($8000 ticket) over Independence day and got nothing. Wasn't expecting it as I didn't even know the service technically returned until seeing this thread now. Got a delay instead which is to be expected nowadays for an AC flight and especially through YYZ

Sorry for your delay. Was never a thing on US to international flights as the US gates are relatively close to the international lounge. When operating you have to be inbound on a domestic flight and leaving internationally (not USA)

There are immigration formalities on US (well, all international) to international flights. You need to be processed by a kiosk. That is why they cannot offer it on anything other than DTI connections.

As a SE, on a paid J domestic to international connection today, no transfer.

Given that nobody has reported receiving this recently, I suspect itís suspended until operations return more to normal.

Just remember that once it comes back, and you get the golden ticket, you can expect multiple calls from the concierge the day before your flight. If you're like me, then multiple calls from the concierge the day before the start of a complex itinerary is not generally a good thing. It was a pleasant surprise to eventually find out that the multiple calls did not have to do with delays/cancellations/upgrades not clearing etc etc, but that I was entitled to a short car ride. But on the whole, I'd have preferred no calls and no ride.

I had the service in May with no calls from the concierge the day before my flight.

A datum if it's helpful to anyone: SE travelling on a flexible J Aeroplan booking – no chauffeur service offered. (I have a six hour connection, if that weighs into AC's triaging). Just as well, as I wanted to head to the Cafe first anyway!
