Another option for same weekend (assuming anybody cares - I'm having fun)

AMS-IAD-GIG Nov1
GIG-IAD-AMS Nov2

750Euro tax in

17,200 Q miles

DutchSE Sep 30, 2003 9:31 am

Is it possible to 'nest' two AC flights - their cheap tickets to Europe look good.

Ferrari Sep 30, 2003 9:49 am

Is it possible...Yes, is it legal.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

'scuse my naiveite, but what is nesting, in the flying context?

Ferrari Sep 30, 2003 2:38 pm

Nesting is when you have two overlapping tickets, so for instance

LHR-LAX-LHR
&
LAX-LHR-LAX

In this case you would fly out on the 1st LHR and back on the 1st LAX.
Reason to get around the anal saturday night stays etc.
You could return the same day you arrive.

Airline have banned it as "condition of transport" would they win in court who knows..
bit of an unfair contract me thinks...but you are dealing with airlines that have no logic.

DUTCHSE.
EMPRESS is dead on with the 50% miles on LH..beware.....

why fly Sep 30, 2003 7:40 pm

Thanks Ferrari, I believe I may have inadvertantly done this before, didn't know the term for it though.
If the carriers make silly rules, they should expect people to bend them.

makin'miles Sep 30, 2003 9:33 pm

If one of the tickets was issued by AC and another by UA, there would be no issue as no fare rule would be broken. You would only want to give yourself a decent buffer to connect between ticket one and two.

Hey DutchSE, go to www.travelocity.com At the bottom there is a small link that says Dream Maps. Click on it and enter your departure city as DUS/AMS. You should get some decent fares. I would guess it might be easier to depart from CDG or AMS than LHR. If you find a city pair that looks promising, check out the Expedia fare lister http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=fpfl to check the fare rules. There are some AMS-LAX flights at $405 US now. You might want to bookmark the fare lister, as it is hard to find.

Good luck!
