This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition, 2019 edition, 2020 edition and 2021 edition.
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Not saying Flames are targeting the aforementioned record-setting Leon Draisaitl due to his ankle injury like cheaper shot artists or anything however...

Lucic running Smith was dirty, and suspending him for tonight would have been very appropriate.
But let's not exaggerate.

Glad the league isn't of the same misguided opinion.
But let's not exaggerate.

The league is "aware" of the clip and "keeping a close eye out". As I'm sure they're aware of everything that's caught on the main broadcast angle and keep a close eye on all playoff games. This wasn't the Zapruder film uncovering some dastardly incident that was missed during the initial telecast.
Nope. Series is over.
No exaggerating a 3-0 Oilers lead after first period.

I have very little confidence. Thus far in this series:
Notice any themes? Throughout, the Flames have taken dumb penalties, either in locations where the Edmonton players were nowhere near being a threat, or in stupid battles after the whistle; the latter haven't led to that many Edmonton PPs, but have kept some of the Flames' important players in the box and disrupted their ability to play 5-on-5 and roll 4 lines.
Yeah, they've clawed back a couple of goals, but they still don't look like a team with much hope of winning this game, let alone the series. They only had 7 SOG in that period.
- Game 1: Flames utterly dominated, but a combination of terrible goaltending, defensive miscues, and moments of individual skill from Edmonton's stars made it a game
- Game 2: Flames were comfortably in control up 3-1, but a combination of terrible goaltending, defensive miscues, and moments of individual skill from Edmonton's stars got Edmonton the win
- Game 3: Flames didn't show up, bad goaltending, defensive miscues, and moments of individual skill from Edmonton's stars gave Edmonton a very comfortable win
- Game 4: Flames didn't show up, defensive miscues, moments of individual skill from Edmonton's stars, and not terrific goaltending gave Edmonton a 3-0 lead

I look forward to this nonsense being over Thursday night. Would have been better if the Flames had just given in to a fluke goal in Game 7 in the last round. That way we could have at least deluded ourselves that, if not for the hot goalie, this team might have accomplished something, instead of this utter collapse.

Thankfully I didn't have to run an errand during the third period again (unlike the last 3 of 4 home games) and slog through downtown YEG, although I wouldn't have called running into celebratory fans a bad thing
It was just nice to relax on the couch this evening for the full 60

It looks like my plan to just show up at Adam Smith doorstep to watch the Flames in the Finals may have to wait for at least 1 more year.....

Once again, Flames have choked away a multi-goal lead in no time flat. More bad goaltending, at least on the second. Just shocking how awful Markstrom has been.

Well, at least this game is another barnburner. I walked away for a few minutes and four goals later...
