If you have general questions about how to earn SQM/SQS/SQD, please see the status qualification thread.

If you have received an incorrect amount of SQx/points, please see the thread on missing/incorrect flight activity.

Calculator for SQM, SQD, and Aeroplan points
SQM/SQD Cowculator and its source code

canadiancow's TODO list:
  • SAS Go Light fares
  • Basic economy on any airline other than AC (is it just need a fare basis that ends in GT?)
  • Ineligible codeshares, like EY-marketed, EY-operated, AC-ticketed

Adam Smith's TODO list:
  • Add earning for VA
  • Check earning rates for AC basic economy

Thanks for this. I think we should just keep the Aeroplan distances for now.

One of two things will happen. AC will either 'fix' their DB to match what we had before or we will get anecdotal evidence on individual routes as people book. But the current distances will be close enough in the meantime. Unless you can mine that data elsewhere.

No, I haven't seen the data anywhere.

I also realized the accumulation for standard/basic fares is inconsistent on AC's site.

https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ification.html has a "before 2021" and "starting Jan 1" table, but neither match https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ir-canada.html

The calculator currently uses the second page.

I am pleased to report that the distance between YYZ and YUL has not changed.

If anyone has can confirm or update any distances that the calculator says come from "Old Aeroplan", please post them.

I've just added a few more that people have sent me.

They have consistently stayed the same, or decreased. I suspect AC is aware that the diameter of the earth has been slowly shrinking.

https://github.com/scottkennedy/ac-a..._distances.csv is the master list of distances. Anything without a "distance" value is unreported in the new program. "old_distance" is (hopefully intuitively) the amount credited in the old program.

This is really going to kill my party trick of rhyming off a whole bunch of Aeroplan distances to show what a hardcore frequent flyer I am 😥

You need a better crowd to party with if they consider that a clever trick.

You have to know your audience... FOTSG SEs and wannabe FFs are particularly impressed with this one, but I wouldn't trot it out with just anyone

Let's hope people swiftly update the calculator with the new distances so I can learn those and keep it in my repertoire

As a FOTSG wannabe (and SE really wannabe), I suspect that any random audience in any airport would be very impressed. Just shout out random airport pairs and distances and they will know you are an expert - or slowly walk away and avoid you. "Just anyone" seems like just the right audience!

Speaking of your FOTSGness, didn't you recently do some flights? Do you have any data to contribute, e.g. YYJ-YYZ or YYJ-YVR or anything like that?

I got award tickets both ways, so unfortunately no data here. Hopefully soon!

DEN-EWR and DEN-IAH are 2 and 1 miles shorter, respectively.

I also got EWR-NAS, which we did not have before.

Looks like YYZ-YYC is shorter by 1 mile from before, now giving 1669 SQM

Indeed. That was the first one that was noticed, or at least that got posted about on here - the cow flew it back in November right around the switchover
