The status level-up feature seems really useful! I do like the AF is US$95/year, and it's sort of what I had predicted earlier in this thread. I'm kind of surprised that not even the premium Canadian Aeroplan cards have this feature. So an AC75K can become SE with this? If so, could it save a substantial amount of money?

Yea, the link works for me, but I'm not going to apply just yet. The SUB isn't all that interesting, and it seems like international travel may be slowing down again due to Omicron.

I jumped quickly and applied mostly out of curiosity due to some past issues with chase and was instantly approved. I had pre-registered for the additional bonus but haven't gotten the email beyond what was sent a few weeks ago. I hope it's linked somewhere on the backend since they took my AP number then and on the application today. Maybe wishful thinking.
A bit disappointed that it's not more competitive with the top tier Canadian card, especially with the rollovers, but I also understand I'm probably not really the target audience for this card as a US Resident who is also already SE.

The annual fee on the black card in Canada is also about 5x higher than this one...

Of course, you also probably had a point, that the card isn't targeted all that much at someone like you. More targeted at the 75Ks who can now skip the $11K of SQD and get SE by just spending $50K on their cards.

That actually might be me in 2023 onwards :P , but I wouldn't say that's a primary motivation for the card. I'd happily pay more for the upgrade priority and E-UP / SQM roll over but maintaining an additional Canadian credit card that would only get $1-2K of spend a year on it is hardly practical.

I think the old requirement was better and easier to attain SE. The new system requires AC75K and then $50k in spending.

If I'm willing to pay 3% (i.e. $1500) I bet I could hit $50k in an hour. 2% might take a bit more time and research. And I'm sure there's an MS forum here with even cheaper options.
Either way, it's substantially less money than the extra SQD.
Yes, the old requirement was certainly easier. But... that's irrelevant now.

Got the email as well. Despite having a couple cards with Chase already, a good US credit score, and being well under my 5/24 limit (I think only 2 in the last 24 months) - I was told they 'need to review my information a little longer'.
So we'll see. I normally end up with around 50-60k SQM from flights on AC every year (pre-COVID) and usually around 10k SQD. With the SQM bonus from spend on my Canadian TD/AmEx I should be close to 80k SQM/year. I don't spend $50,000 in the US every year - I'll have to think about whether it's worth using the card enough in Canada to get up to that number to earn SE (assuming it's approved eventually).
