New AC structure
new rumor out.....
Tuesday will announce AC will be International flights only and Zip will take over Domestic and USA and Gerry Schwartz of Onex will buy and own Zip. Also AC is hiring (promoting) staff to be new managers in yyz (as if we didn't have enough) |
gah. Any rumours on how Aeroplan fits into such a plan?
|
I'm assuming then, that AC would only fly 767-200/300, 330 and 340, and Zip would take over the rest (currently 737, 319/320/321, DH8, BAe146, CRJ? [F28 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif]) ...
What would happen to Jazz? Tango kaput as well? |
Won't ZIP need some larger aircraft also?
YYZ<->YUL during peak periods YYZ<->YVR to connect to Asia flights YVR<->HNL (US) ...for instance |
Zip doing all domestic and transborder; that should be interesting. I hope JetBlue comes to Canada in some capacity because I've been relegated to mainly cheap flights anyways.
|
I wonder if this "rumour" has any truth behind it?
I wonder what this would mean for most AC employees who have survived so far, but are at risk to be classified as surplus once this deal goes foreward? |
Et destina?

I don't know if I would believe the whole rumour. I think AC sticking with the transcon flights and giving Zip the rest sounds more reasonable. Also I am not sure about the U.S. flights. I think Zip would take all the flights that are mainly leasure destinations and AC would stick with the ones where there is alot of business traffic.

Boy,do things ever get warped going down the 401!!!!!! That rumour is way off what I heard. I heard that Zip and Tango are toast, so going from nothing to Dom and Transborder is some warp....I'm sure AC would lose approximately 80% of its High Premium customers with that type of re-org. It would be the beginning of the end. Don't know where that rumour came from, but totally off the wall. I got mine from a very reliable source. I would say what the plan is but seeing that it is almost official,it could be to my detriment to say what it is. You have to know when to shut up. By the way the actual date I heard they will announce this publicly is Sept 15th (not the 02nd) |
If Zip and Tango are toast, then what will happen to the old 737s? Will they be returned to lessors or re-integrated into the AC mainline network (with or without J-class)?

Well, in case some of you don't remember, Tango operations will be history on Oct 1.
As for the original rumour, suggesting that Zip will take over all domestic & US operations is a bit too wild as Gazou suggested! No where close to what I've heard as well. [This message has been edited by Empress (edited 09-01-2003).] |
