This actually came up for me this Spring; I just wasn't smart enough to see the potential.
I was working on meeting the girls in NYC and flight to EWR with a prolonged overnight connection in YYZ staying with them at our condo was cheaper than direct to YYZ. Not to your scale, but cheaper all the same. I remember telling DW it seemed messed up. I managed more away from work time to spend with them in TO, so I flew earlier, surprised my daughter and just let it go.

I flew YYZ-MEX-YYZ-YVR-YYJ for less than or equal to YYZ-YVR-YYJ back in 2019.

Alas partner Mexicana is no longer and YYZ-CUN has been Rouged. But certainly made those mid-winter transcon business trips extra worthwhile with a few days of warmth...and those bonus miles were insane!

This was a great way to pick up 3300+ PQP for a long time. I guess no more.

If only I were flying. Now most of us are in the same boat as you Ken (since you are not flying).

Yes there are many forms of the MHD still out there, many with a Latinx flavor. The system works against and for us. We just have to know how to make it work for us most of the time! Sometimes this is the long way round and sometimes it is just the shortest distance and time between two points. Knowledge is power though.

Agreed. And sadly I don't think I'll be looking for deals for the foreseeable future. But I still have my sombrero, BB. Thanks.
