How crowded are domestic flights nowadays?

Reports of load factors under 10% on US domestic routes. Is it similar on AC routes for those who have flown any recently?

I have no idea what actual load factors are here.
However judging by aircraft performance, rotating sooner and climbing faster, it's probably not much better in Canada.
Lots of flights leaving the gates 10-15 minutes early.

I would say it is dismal at best...

AC only has one flight a day now between YYT-YYZ, with most regional Jazz flights between NL and NS cancelled (aside from YYT-YHZ) until May 31.

But the question wasn't about the schedule, which we all know has been decimated, it was about the load factors on the flights AC is actually running.

I was told by someone who took YYZ-YVR this week that it was surprisingly full, ie. Middle seats occupied

I would estimate ~50% given the reduced schedule

Another question is who and why are these people still flying around?

AC 108 YVR-YYZ, a 789, departed with about 40 people
AC 184 YVR-YYZ, a 320, departed with about 25 people.
AC 103, YYZ-YVR, a 320, departed with about 90 people.
AC 125, YYZ-YVR, a 789, will be departing with about 130 people.

So from my highly scientific analysis, loads range from 15-50%.

Non judgmental question: Why are there still people flying?

Some planes were sent from YVR to the desert yesterday.
Cow's totals may include those crews returning home.

Yes.

I was going off the assumption that a significantly reduced schedule would imply that loads are very poor also. In the case of Jazz flights around Atlantic Canada, I guess nobody was flying on them (because they wouldn't have cancelled them until May 31 if they still had some pax)!

This is from the UK, but interesting (if incomplete) information on schedule, a bit on load and information about cargo that was mentioned in another thread.

Any significance to the fact that more than three times as many people wanted to get out of Toronto as wanted to go there?

That would make sense since the passenger load was about 4% last week (based on YVR total pax and TSA numbers). Since that 4% is flying on much less flights, the load per plane has to be higher.

Exactly. And I'm often one of those trying to get out before the crack of dawn.

AC 101 at approx 7am and 103 at 8am (and sometims 105 or similar) are the early morning departures. I fly them often to connect to TPAC at YVR.

While AC may not be flying pax TPACs now, CA and NH and a few other airlines are still flying, so some of those on 103 may be cnx pax.

As for the 90 pax on the A320 for AC 103 that the Cow listed, the A320 holds 12J and 125Y so 90 total pax isn't terrible all things considered.
