(April Fools) Air Canada Announces it will utilize downtime to fix deflating seats

MONTREAL, April. 1, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada today announced it would be utilizing the current downtime and reduced schedule to repair the deflating seat inconvenience in their signature suite product offering. There have been a small number of seats that have deflated, causing a slight amount of discomfort intermittently over the past few years, and the opportunity to permanently address the issue with the current reduction of daily flights is an opportunity that will be taken full advantage of.

"The seats in our Signature Suite are unmatched in the North American market
, are in line with our long-term strategic plans for global expansion. As the largest foreign carrier in the U.S., these seats were chosen based on the strength of Air Canada's North American network, allowing for more comfortable and productive travel between Canada, the U.S., and global markets," said Mark Galardo, Vice President of Network Planning at Air Canada. The repaired seat will be found in the Air Canada Signature Suite on 777,787 and newly retrofitted 333 aircraft featuring our lay-flat Signature Suite cabins. It complements our existing Premium economy and economy offerings.

"This deflated seat, the only inconvenience we have seen with the Signature Suite offering, did not meet the high standards of our premium offering, so we are implementing a permanent fix to the problem," Mr. Galardo said.

"We are delighted to be chosen to upgrade the Air Canada onboard product offering," says Philippe Rainville, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal. "While not something we would normally do, given the current market situation, it allows us to provide some additional hours to our staff."

The upgrades are timed to be done during current downtime with the reduced schedule and will not impact scheduled operations.

Saw that coming from the title.

There are two April fools in this one:
  • AC admitting something is wrong in their product
  • AC doing something about it

This story seems largely inspired by the Deflating seat thread, so it confirms AC reads Flyertalk or prominent Flyertalkers work for/with Air Canada

The obvious joke is the "small number of seats that have deflated".

@Admin/@mods

can you please delete the thread. Someone changed the title to say April fools which literally defeats the whole entire purpose.

thanks

Satire - the most useful form of humour.

Repetition is also a form of humour.

Repetition is also a form of humour.

Repetition is also a form of humour.

Maybe that's why AC repeatedly giving us deflated seats is actually funny. Kinda like whoopie cushions but with a 'thud' instead of a fart.
