AC SYD-YYZ?
Flightradar24 is showing an AC 787, flight no. 7214, landing in YYZ early this afternoon on a direct run from SYD. Estimated flight time was 16h20. According to Great Circle Mapper that's 9663 miles, longer than both the LHR-PER and SIN-EWR routes that Qantas and Singapore airlines do.
Wow!

Yup, I saw here late last night not long after she left SYD and was tracking her all the way home, starting with this post upthread. Sleep optional. One nap.

so having done the YVR to SYD leg on Fin 706 (777-200L) - it's a long old flight with three meals. Interesting the cabin crew (dunno about flight deck) only get 28 hours in Sydney before heading home. VERY senior crew (YVR base) heading to Sydney where they only need to do three of these a month from memory and one short haul to make their hours. When we were returning to Toronto via Vancouver however, the flight was delayed by four hours. . (the inbound crew the day before had zero'd out on hours due to time taken to de-ice and the original flight was cancelled.) When we got on the aircraft, junior crew - presumably a scratch crew of spares, who had their dose of Sydney about 30 years too early (albeit on minimum rest) took us back to Vancouver.
We paid the extra for PE and were very glad! On a densified 777 with 10 across in economy, it looked REALLY uncomfortable every time I headed back for the bathroom with legs, heads and bodies spilling into the aisles. (god help those in a middle seat!)
For the pilots, I know they carried 2 sets of crew, as we spotted the relief crew upstairs where presumably after takeoff, they rest for half the flight. Recent Aer Lingus flights from Dublin to Beijing have carried crews for the return leg so it sits on the ground for 4 hours with crew not leaving the aircraft.
Does that mean today's flight had 2 sets of pilots or four? (if the OB was via LAX, then they could switch there, but I'm sure the normal regs would require two each way plus regs. It is good to see this flexibility by both AC and the pilots given it's in everyone's interest to get food and PPE into Canada and to keep as many of the birds in the air as possible.)

PS - I'd be interested to hear how much gas was left in the tank (so to speak) and therefore how close they were to diverting in the US for refuelling.
PPS - not seen one of the 6 x 777-200L in the air for weeks now. I assume they are all having a well earned rest somewhere warm at the moment

According to flightaware ... fins 701, 702, 703, and 706 are all in YVR, and fin 705 is in YYZ. It's only 704 which is somewhere warm, in SIN (I'm guessing for a D check?)

Now if they could find a valid reason for a flight SYD-YQY!
EDIT - I may have misread. Looks like there might have been 2 lines for the same flight, with the arrival time on the other line. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/f...7214/#24696a08

I'm really curious about the stop in LAX on the outbound. LAX appears to be right on the straight YYZ-SYD route, but going via YVR wouldn't even add 200 miles to the trip. I'd have thought a domestic stop vs. international stop could add some flexibility regarding operating crews, etc.
I guess it's just a range issue. Maybe if they had an A350, or once there is a plane with even longer range.
