B787-8 J Service

On a TPAC, do they start on the left or right aisle for the cart service?

Maybe this is a trick question, but it is usually both at the same time.

But the SD may be more involved with pax on the left.

ok thanks.

Was just trying to figure out A/D vs. G/K.

Cheers

On the 787-8, it is a horseshoe service that starts from the aft of left, through the galley upfront then up the right hand side of the aircraft. i.e. Service starts at 5A/D, then proceeds to 1A/D, then to 1D/G and finishing up at 5G/K.

it is on the 787-9 that starts at the same time in both aisles.

Hope this helps.

That would be correct. 1 bar cart, 1 meal cart, 1 collapsible trolley. Service delivery similar to 767 with a core crew of 2.

This becomes irrelevant if you fly J frequently....

True, but not all of us have that luxury.

Thanks for the replies.... most of my overseas is on the -9, so was having a “moment” trying to remember the -8 service flow.

:)

I'm with you. I've done dozens of flights on AC 789s, but only a handful on 788s, and even then, not for 3+ years.

I usually sit on the right and have had amazing SD's. I also noticed that even as P25K/E35K they always addressed me by name, which only happens once in a blue moon now that I lost my status (well, not if AC has the mercy of granting me a 3-mile exception). Y'know, really important in the big scheme of things :)

Um, why does it matter? A TPAC is going to have lots of service and I assume well stocked galleys.

It matters only as far as OP asked the question. As an SE, it seems he travels enough on AC to know that the J service is there and galleys may be stocked.

There are only 8 of the 788s in the fleet and even given the amount I fly back and forth across the Pacific, it's almost all 789s and various triples. The last long-haul 788 flights I took were on AC 35/36 to BNE and I also did not remember the service pattern. And the only other one was a recent red-eye from LAX and I slept so no pattern for me to notice.

Another reason to stay on the right side.

I have a YVR-EWR flight scheduled on the 788. Same service I assume?
