Same Flight, Same Delay, Different Compensation Amounts
I recently submitted a claim for the delay and ultimate cancellation of a flight that resulted in a delayed arrival at my destination of 11 hours. I received a lacklustre reply from AC that focused on the delay of the inbound connecting flight I took which was irrelevant. I ended up being offered a 30% code as "goodwill".
This morning I was surprised to hear that one of the colleagues I was travelling with was offered $1000 and the other a $250 voucher. Both of them have no status either. I don't know if it's worth filing another claim or being persistent over email.
Another case of consistently inconsistent.

But I have no comment on your predicament.
I'd definitely take 30% off over $1000 cash though.

Lol I love these replies! I have to admit, I would be pretty salty about missing out on the $1000 myself.
The only way 30% off would be worth more is if you were buying crazy expensive J fares (which I am sure some of you are )

That is not a "crazy expensive J fare".
In fact, for anything intercontinental, that's a "really cheap J fare". Not "crazy cheap", but definitely really cheap.

The % off is good for multiple people on the same booking.

For 30% to be worth more than $1000, your base fare would need to be $3333.34 CAD or higher. That's $1666.67 per person if you book two people.

But you can't always find those to the destinations you want and on the dates you want, which is where the discounts come in.

But if I were to calculate the derivative of that? Or use the Pythagorean theorem?
