Important Event Notes - FAQ

  • Wasn't this in December last year?
Yes, but in previous years it was in September, which, let's be honest is much more "fall" than early December, despite what the idiot who hosts this thing wrote last year.
  • Will the YYC Fall Do offer superior dining and beverage service?
Yes. The restaurant has a very long whisky list and the best burgers in town. You can savour a sit-down meal from the ŕ la carte menu crafted for the Do.
  • What if I like hockey puck beef?
Then you're a weirdo, but I guess you can ask them to do it.

Important Event Notes (real ones this time!)

  • The burger and Scotch theme is purely optional. Those are the specialties of the restaurant, but you're free to have a salad and a diet Coke Zero, fish and white wine or whatever floats your boat.
  • [UPDATED 26/9]: We will have access to a few of the restaurant's recent Whisky Wednesday tasting menus which offer a flight of 3-4 whiskies at a reduced price. For past Do attendees, this is the same as previous years.
  • The Do host has not achieved Dorian's level of wealth and generosity. No T-shirts or other swag will be provided. Unless yyznomad shows up with some of his headphones and other goodies.

Yes, I had given it to my friend when he came to my place, and he forgot to take it home, so it was still kicking around when the nomad came by a couple of weeks ago. It has now made its way over to the friend's place and I'm told he's enjoying it regularly

Checked flight price--- its out of my range now.... if only saw this a few weeks ago :/

Nice! No codeshares of this exclusive event though, you have to book with the operating carrier

Absolutely. The private room (which we currently have reserved) has space for about 28, so we're fine for now. And I can potentially move it out to the main dining room where there's more space if there are more.

That being said, I'll tag a few past attendees in case they haven't seen this or were thinking of adding themselves last-minute. We had to do some musical chairs last year after a bunch of people added themselves very late. So, 24left, WR Cage, DrunkCargo , cooleddie, any chance we'll be seeing you?

For those of you still monitoring, understood that you may need some time still to firm up plans, but please let us know one way or the other as soon as you do

I'll be attending the dinner; Adam Smith can you please add me to the list?

And, weather permitting, I will be going ahead with a couple of local flights around the mountains/city on Sunday morning for those that wish to tag along. canadiancow has claimed some spots and we can figure out the rest on Saturday evening.

Sweet! The wife and I are still interested as well, although happy to give up seats to out-of-towners if flights can be done another time.

Looks like I need to buy another 2 person FP (I just bought one for the YVR do). If UA timing worked better we'd piggyback on the GS, but alas, it does not.
Wait what ? You have a calf ?

In the same sense that I have a Bovine, yes.

I’m going to put myself on the wait list, hoping to confirm by the end of the weekend.

if I do come I will be packing about 20 or so of these

My father-in-law was a frequently flyer way back when.

Sadly, I have offloaded myself.

I am skipping my trip next week - this was going to be my final stop on the way home.
