AQD accumulation question after Comfort fare changed last minute to Standard

Recently purchased a round way ticket (comfort fare since it’s not uncommon for me to have to change flights).

It it was originally YUL MIA direct but I had to change my departure destination at the last minute and it ended being YQB YUL YYZ MIA (Standard).

I paid the fare difference plus the $25 change fee and saw after the trip that I accumulated $3.35 for YQB YUL, $7.45 YUL YYZ, $29.32 YYZ MIA, for a grand total of about forty bucks on a return fare that cost close to $1000.

I understand that I’m accumulating AQD for the base fare only but am I missing something?

Clearly that's incorrect, probably something got messed up with the change. Write in and I'm sure they'll correct it quickly.

Though I don't know if I'd bother until the return posts. If the full AQD posts in a stupid manner, it's not really much of an issue.

Happy to announce that I received a whopping $38 for the return fare.

The moral of the story is always double check AQD if you change your flight or they might give you credit only for the fare difference.

Fixed that for you.

Exception: Its August and at $27k AQD it doesn't matter anymore.

On one hand, I agree.

On the other, you don't want them to announce a GS-like tier in March and be excluded because you neglected to chase AQD after 20k the previous year.

Ugh. Please no. I like being close to the top of the upgrade list.

Well, then. If it gets my well traveled by cheap ... into the SSL, I'll keep better tabs then.

Final update:

Filled out the form here: https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/altitude/eupgrades/report-eupgrade-discrepancies.html

All ended well and the discrepancy of 800+ AQD was credited.
