Since I live partially in NYC, I get, “by choice” — NYC alerts. Yesterday there were severe storms, severe flooding and multiple power blackouts! Some subway lines were stopped due to the power blackouts. The real feel temperatures are in the triple digits! Grounded flights, sitting on a tarmac and no booze should be people’s worst problem
( and I am thankful I am NOT in NYC at this time);

Two AC planes made it in from YYZ late last night to overnight in LGA.
YVR-EWR (787-8) made it into EWR, but the turnaround to YVR was cancelled. AC is running an extra YYZ-EWR (upgauged 787-9) then on to YVR. Not sure what they did with the dreamliner that landed in EWR last night.
Today, 102minute ground delay program in effect all day for LGA today due to winds. That'll make recovery efforts toufher https://www.fly.faa.gov/ois/
As for us, AC gave the 3 of us a significant # of reasons ($usd) to give up our seats for 703 and fly later this morning

Would all the YVR-EWR passengers have gone through US preclearance? If so the diversion back to Canada would have been...interesting.

The aircraft arrived at the F gates last night, so I'd think they would have needed to go back through Canadian immigration.
