Mechanical delay - 8.5 hours
Question from a friend - a mechanical delay caused an 8 hour layover in Toronto. Did not even get a meal ticket.
Is he entitled to anything? If not would he have been with the new legislation coming in?
Thanks!

At 3 hours, they start handing out vouchers for controllable delays.
At somewhat less than that, premium passengers can have a reasonable success rate requesting them.

When we were delayed by 5 hrs going to LAS in May we were just chatting to the waitress in Wahlburger about being delayed and she asked for our boarding passes had a word with her manager and discounted our meals by $20 each. Air Canada did not mention food vouchers at all, and upon boarding we all got a 15% off coupon
