However I will say that I’m more than happy to wait and not take an aircraft that’s DOA!

edit: will try to post photo of AC229 flight status from EF when I am on a device that FT accepts for uploads unless someone else wants to.

Something like:

Delayed awaiting first available aircraft (on) account (of) FIN 404 DOA in YYC.

No DOA in there, but I assume it means the standard dead on arrival?

AC means altocumulus?! But, but ... all this time I thought it meant ...

Oh, wait ... it can mean assistant chief too. Now I get it.

404 pages! Good grief.

I don't think that is fair.

If someone makes a somewhat cryptic post that relies on obscure acronyms to make a point, I don't think it is incumbent on readers to spend time researching what s/he means. (This is not a criticism of the OP.)

Nobody hear did such a thing though... they are referencing the remarks made from EF.

It's not anyone's job here to teach others what the acronyms are.

Even if DOA here means the standard "dead on arrival", I still don't understand what it means for an aircraft to be DOA.

It means when the aircraft arrived it was already dead.

I doubt literally DOA. Snarky ops guy is snarky.

The inbound had some mechanical issues. Not enough to inherently cause delay on the inbound flight, or an emergency response, but enough they knew that that aircraft wouldn't be flying out on the schedule flight.

Did anyone administer CPR to the plane before it died?

So the part I don't understand is what is actually means for an aircraft to be dead.
Faulty engines?
Faulty electrical system?
Cabin pressure issues?
Physical damage to the plane?
Too many deflating J seats?
Etc
Etc
