most direct would probably be taking the SIN-PER flight, e.g. YYZ-AUH-SIN-PER (assuming you want to fly eastbound)

I don't know about "best" but "most ridiculous" would probably be something like YYZ-JFK-AUH-JNB-PER because SAA flies JNB-PER. Would give your flight map a really funny looking edge!

Please stick to the title of this thread, from YYZ TO SYD using Etihad, the most direct and effective route is YYZ-LHR-AUH-SYD, there is no doubt under the title of this thread. To bring other routes not applicable to Etihad, you are not contributing to this thread at all.

The MPM for SYD-NYC is less than SYD-YYZ( told by agent). I initially booked SYD-AUH-LHR-YYZ_$323 in taxes, I was trying to get more hours on A380, I later cancelled it and was able to book SYD-AUH-JFK/LGA-YYZ +$151 in taxes both EY sectors in A380 and more hours in AUH to enjoy the lounge. If they tell you the routing is not valid tell them that it is under the MPM and insist that it is indeed valid. This is an amazing redemption. Good luck everyone

I am hoping to take either SYD-AUH-JFK, or ICN-AUH-JFK with Etihad from YVR. Would like to book RT as I prefer a few days in AUH.
Anyone has an itinerary that works out of YVR? I couldn't get under the MPM from YVR-TKO-SYD-AUH-JFK-YVR.
I am willing to start at another city as well and buy a ticket on my own.
(going eastward because easy to book this way than westward) OOPs, I mean going westward.
thanks in advance!

I've been playing around on the Aeroplan site and if I book for example YYZ-LHR-AUH-SYD with the last 2 segments with Etihad in first class and then back in business class, the total is 160k miles. is this normal?
I'd love to try the first class suite but I'm all booked up for the until April 2021. Should I book something now for that month and call later to change my travel dates?

Shows as business mileage, all the way until final confirmation page, but will take the correct miles upon processing (in my case I didn't have enough miles for first and the booking did not complete).

Was able to book YEG-YYZ-LHR-AUH-SIN (one way). Was able to get a "RTW" routing on the online Aeroplan (onward to TPE-YVR-YEG) but did not have enough points for the round trip. Had to call in to book the one way. Agent was able to find and complete the booking in about 5 minutes.

btw, fly eastward means traveling to east (Asia)?

In your example, I'll assume AUH is a stopover, YVR-ICN-AUH is 9364 miles. For the AUH-YVR portion, you need all segments included to ensure the routing doesn't exceed MPM.
Fly eastward, is literally that. Flying in an easterly direction...going trans atlantic to Asia instead of trans pacific.

Just proactively cancelled a trip in October in order to secure a March trip, SIN-AUH-JFK-YYZ in F actually better than original SIN-AUH-CDG-YYZ. If something opens this year may go, however feeling less confident with this change.
