All of which would no doubt be considered safety issues (rightly or wrongly) according to the AC playbook in order to ensure they dodge any potential compensation for pax.

Yeah once APPR kicks in on Dec 15 I wonder if we will see any improvements on OTP. Considering 3-6 hours delay is a $400 compensation per pax; and a 2 hour+ delay requires food/drink vouchers.

If only I could backdate that...I've probably had more than 15 segments this year with a 3 hour+ delay.

In other news, another delayed flight right now.

APPR is useless. There is a loophole where airlines can claim "safety".

Also, looks like the horrible Canadian winter has once again affected AC, who keep steady in last place in North America

That's true, everything will be 'safety' now We'll see how that holds up with the agency though.

And I must be missing out on this winter that we speak of since I'm in Toronto and in shorts everyday...

Nearly all delays are actually due to safety (weather, ATC, maintenance, crew timeouts, crew rest, ...). Which is why the new regulations are almost completely useless.

I will consider working for AC if I can take a one year break from my current job. Though I would prefer working in maintenance or any job that can get me close to a plane. And by then maintenance doing plane spotting on the job may be the cause of poor OTP.

Air Canada squeaked into the so-called punctuality league, placing 20th among "mega airlines" behind the big U.S. carriers as well as British Airways, Lufthansa, and Air China.

The Montreal-based airline's on-time performance was 66 per cent, the report said.
