status miles from codeshare?
I'm thinking of flying Stockholm to Boston on SAS-numbered flights (but which are actually operated by Icelandair). Do I earn Aeroplan status miles on these? (There's nothing I could find on the Aeroplan site which said "no", but...). Thanks in advance for an answer.

No, only codeshares operated by other STAR carriers can earn Aeroplan status miles.

That is what I thought but I was waiting for confirmation from more experienced travellers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Icelandair operated flights can only be credit two FF programs, either SAS EuroBonus(only extra points though) and Icelandair Saga Bonus.

Thanks again.... A little more searching, and I stumbled onto SAS charging about USD $400 for Stockholm-Newark RT nonstop (even though I was only going for a weekend). Even with a separate internal US RT ticket, it was a cheap option for where I was going (Bangor)....
I found it curious, in my searching, how few the air connections are across the border with little airports like Bangor. The only airport listed cross-border was St. John, NB, but as far as I could tell from their website PanAm (!) was not actually flying. So AC dropped out of the picture as a possibility. |
Not enough traffic to justify such low density transborder routes. This is healthy for small niche carriers like PAN AM which can still make money on thin routes like this. Though not good for those wishing to earn FF miles. BTW this revamp of PAN AM runs a small system through the Northeast USA, and was actually paid by the city to fly this route. Not sure if this route has panned out, though, as your post suggests.
