I dodged the storm in DEN this week with an hour to spare, dodged the MAX8 grounding and made it from YVR-LIM both flights on time (UA, not AC), so I'm golden !

I'll refrain for a moment from editorializing about some irrational perception of AC's ability to manage a crisis and ask those who were there in the action to tell us how that went.

For anyone wondering, domestic flights seem unaffected. Friend actually arrived early (yes AC).

Good luck to everyone flying TB/Intl. Safe travels.

Had a flight this morning AC700, security/cbp was on the lighter side (Gate F). Seems like they were pulling people from early flights in the line to rush them in the front. My flight only had a very small delay but that was because of LGA. The airport did smell like a campfire throughout terminal 1, that got my appetite hungry but that's when I realized a lot of the morning shops that are usually opened were not. Besides that, the damage was much less than I expected..

A photo really can't do the E gate security justice from last night, like I said upthread, but this is the one I took. There were maybe a hundred more people to my right, and then hundreds more out of view around the corner closer to the terminal entrance and towards pillar 15 where they were trying to get people to go to wait.

There were maybe half a dozen police that I saw, who seemed to have no information, and one agent from Air Canada who made periodic appearances and who had no information but who was telling people to move away from the E gate entrance and she was mostly ignored. Other than that the scene pretty much looked liked this for 3 hours, zero information provided by Pearson or anyone else the entire time, then they unceremoniously reopened the E gate security and then had one CATSA employee trying to crowd control this mass of humanity.

This was our beauty last night - we pushed back around 2:30am or so, about 2.5 hours late. Arrived in London and through LHR by 2pm local.

NEXUS was the big winner last night - I got through Intl security in about 3 minutes, whereas I'm sure that backlog took hours to clear through.

All and all, given the situation, I came out ahead, but I'm sure it was a nightmare travel night for a lot of people and families.

What does this have to do with the fire? The first flight was delayed hours before the fire, and unlike many other flights we've seen here, neither of them mention the fire in the remarks.

I'm sure others here would say many delays are as a result of related to the fire at YYZ.

Yes, as can clearly be seen by the remarks on those flights, but not on the 868 pair you posted.

AC's travel advisory calls the YYZ fire a 'airport facilities constraint', I'm assuming thats different from DUE FLEET CONSTRAINTS PROVIDING REQUIRED CAPACITY

The remarks (RMKS/DLYD DUE FLEET CONSTRAINTS PROVIDING REQUIRED CAPACITY) lead me to believe AC is very likely using the 789 to operate upgauged domestic or transborder flying to cover for the 7M8 fleet grounding. It probably has nothing to do with the fire, as you said.

The terminal was evacuated for some time and security was not able to effectively process the backlog.
That's not on AC.

True, but this is a thread about the fire.

I have, actually .... was stuck in Y on a flight from FRA-YYZ on Saturday .... and yeah, it sucked.

But I'm not convinced that being locked in a building that was filling with smoke, with several thousand other travelers, would be a whole lot happier ....
